With winter in full swing, this is a time for indoor activities. Our former snows have melted but more is expected tomorrow. Those of us who miss gardening turn to other hobbies and interests during the winter. For some of you, it might be curling up next to the fireplace with a great book. Some love sewing, knitting or crocheting. For those who love to cook and/or bake, we welcome the extra warmth our ovens create in the kitchen. Perhaps your passion is needlework, cross stitch or quilting. I have one of those large plastic storage boxes full of old table cloths and crochet just waiting to be reintroduced into new lives as tote bags, purses and mantle scarfs.
Regardless of what you love to do - you will enjoy this recipe from an old 1985 issue of Southern Living Recipes. You can make some Quilter's Brew....or rename this accordingly "Reader's Brew" or "Sewer's Brew" or whatever........
Quilter's Brew (as recipe originally was published)

spice bag: 12 to 14 whole allspice, 8 whole cloves, peel from 1/2 large orange, cut into small strips
Lastly: 2 cups water, 1 12 oz can frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed and undiluted, 1/2 cup lemon juice, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup honey
1980 Instructions: Pour 9 cups water into a 12 cup percolator. Combine
next 4 ingredients in percolator basket. Perk through complete cycle of electric percolator. When percolating is completed, remove the basket. Add the remaining ingredients to tea mixture;stir. Heat thoroughly. Yield: 13 cups. Nora Hendrix, Augusta, Georgia

Hello Bernideen
Sounds like a good brew to share with a few friends.
Where's your snow? I still see grass out your window.
I like the dog holding the basket, an adorable visitor to your tea.
Judith
Sweet Winter Blessings to you, Bernideen!
It is COLD outside.
Love the puppy! He's sure to brighten one's day.

Cold, rainy, and wet here... snow this past Saturday... things are a mess! Fun recipe! Sounds like it would make the house smell divine while brewing it!
Thanks for giving us updated instructions!

Donna
The quilters tea sounds really good-I must try it sometime.
I love those two little teapots behind the dog with the basquet.

Hi Bernideen! I love your dog! That is so cute! And the teapot is such a pretty pattern. Hadn't heard of making tea in a percolater. Amazing! You can still find them sometimes...might be worth looking. Thanks for visiting and keep warm! I think we got as much snow as you did last week...we got a foot! Wierd!
Ruth
Your china is so pretty and your dog is adorable. Thanks for the quilter's tea recipe. I shall call it that because I'm a quilter.

Hello Bernideen,
your Quiters brew sound like something I would love at the moments. It is really cold here, too. Your rose tea set is so beautiful in shape and decoration. Thank you for sharing all your nice recipes and ideas.
Best greetings, Johanna
Oh I love that delicate rose tea cup and saucer, it's just beautiful.
Hello Bernideen,
The Brew sounds delicious and thank you sharing the recipe. Love the doggy, what a cute visitor to your tea table! The two teapots behind the dog really caught my eye; lovely!
Thank you, my friend, for helping to make Tea Time so special these past two years with your lovely tea things and wonderful inspiration. I really appreciate you and all the tea knowledge you share with us.

Sandi
Oooh! This sounds lovely! I'd love to share it on my blog (with a link back, of course) if you don't mind! :)
Hi Bernideen,

Bernideen, The recipe for tea is so great of you to share. The teapot and creamer and sugar bowl is beautiful with the handle above the pot. I love the puppy with basket of flowers. I visited Colorado this summer and was in your area but didn't get a chance to come by your shop this time. I am sorry I missed the opportunity! Happy Tea Party! Pam
Hi Bernideen! Why, I featured a wild rose patterned teapot in the exact shape and style that you have featured today in celebration of Sandi's two year anniversary! It has become one of my very favorites because it is so different from the traditional handle on the side. Always enjoy your posts - your music selection - your wisdom.
Joy!
Kathy
Gotta love your pooch! You are so kind to share so much of your lovely things. Yours is definitely a creative and loving spirit!
