Today is "Friends Sharing Tea" and if you have a post about tea on your blog please link below and join in the fun! I want to talk about choosing a theme for your Tea Party:
Most Tea Parties focus on the time of the year when they occur, or regarding the "group" they are for or birthdays, baby showers or bridal showers. This makes it pretty easy . Colors come to mind for each season too. The month of January is time to celebrate new beginnings. February we think of Valentines Day. It doesn't just have to be about romance. A Valentine Friendship Tea works very well. March, April and May bring us Spring, Easter and St. Patrick's Day. Summertime is perfect for out of doors garden teas and 4th of July Celebrations which work well on porches and patios as well. Fall with all it's splendor of colors and pumpkins and then Christmas and Snowmen..... even Cabin Fever winter tea
So you see, the year is filled with OPPORTUNITY for tea.
You might like to have a tea for little girls which focuses on the story of Anne of Green Gables....I just enjoyed watching this movie with my grandaughter and was reminded of it's charm and delight!
Actually the list of possibilites for other teas are endless....according to your own personal interests. Are you a quilter or someone who travels? You can dream up lots of ways to implement those things into a tea! Do you dream of a trip to Paris? Go there - at your tea party!

You make it sound easy for a theme. Of course if you're enjoying afternoon tea every day like most, the theme is just plain old 'tea' and maybe the sweet you've baked.
When I have a tea party and invite friends, I do have a theme then, makes it more fun.

My sister and her youngest daughter dressed up recently and had a Little House on the Prairie tea party -- she sent me a picture. They were both very cute! I think my next tea party theme will be Hot! Hot! Hot! to counteract the cold, cold, cold! :)

I love Anne of Green Gables, that would make a great theme tea party for my grandaughter and her friends!

I have an idea for a mid-winter tea that I would call my "Blue Monday Tea." I would, of course, have it on a Monday, and I would ask my guests to wear predominately blue attire (or whatever blue clothing they own). My tablescape would feature a blue centerpiece, a blue tablecloth covered with a white lace one, and blue napkins. I would serve a blueberry tea and blueberry scones, and finally, my guests and I would listen to blue-themed music (, , etc.). Wouldn't that get us all out of the winter doldrums? I haven't actually had this tea yet, but I'll let you know if I ever do. :-)
