THREE DAYS OF RAIN AND WEEDS AND NO WALKS

My title today says it all.  Honestly,
can it rain anymore?  Yes, rain is
on the way..... again.  I just looked
out and saw this so I took a photo
through the screen and window so
it isn't great.  But the hollyhocks
are going to seed and look who
is eating the seeds:

It seems like this year the hollyhocks have gone
rather quickly.

I try to walk everyday for an hour.  It
has really helped me physically.  I went
out early today in incredible humidity
knowing that if I didn't do it now it
wasn't going to happen.

I love being home in retirement.
Everyday there are so many possibilities
of things to do, or make or bake or watch.
I have been sewing some clothing for
myself for the first time in years.

I hope you are having an
enjoyable summer.

  1. Bernideen, I'm so glad you're getting out on your walks. That's wonderful! And sewing clothes. That would make me soooo happy. I used to sew a lot of my clothes in my teens and twenties, made some beautiful things, but now I just can't seem to get back into it. Keep up the good work!

  2. I was glad to see your hollyhock seeds are not going to waste. One lovely
cardinal having his version of a tea party. We are not getting as much rain
as you, but it sure is humid up here with a few sprinkles at my house.
You're right, early exercise before the heat gets up there. Lynn

  3. We've had a goodly amount of rain the past few weeks which makes for a lush green lawn and flower blooms. Hollyhocks are coming along nicely and should start blooming soon... can't wait to enjoy them. Early morning exercise is great to beat the heat and/or thunderstorms. Hopefully you'll get a rain break and have an enjoyable fourth of July.

  4. What a lovely post with such great photos! I am thankful that you commented on my "June goals" post, as I had lost track of you. The link I had in my sidebar no longer works. So I took it out and replaced it once I saw for sure that you were still blogging.

I also try to walk, with a friend, for an hour each day. It definitely helps. But of late, the heat and humidity, and showers part of each day, have made that a challenge. We did go out this morning at 7, but it was not comfortable out there!

Hollyhocks are blooming now up here in New Hampshire. How nice to know that cardinals eat the seeds! We have had cardinals in our back woods this year. We have rarely even seen one in the past, but this summer we have had a pair.
