The smell of Apple Pie in the kitchen is a wonderful thing and I love the recipe that has Aspen Mulling Spices, walnuts and cranberries in it.  This is an easy pie that your family will love.
It screams FALL!

I am going to assume here that you have a basic recipe for a 2 crust pie shell - or just buy one at the grocery store.  I use the old crisco one - I am sure on the can.

I have probably made this pie 1/2 dozen times so I think in the future I am going to decrease the amount of cranberries and increase the apples.  Here is what you need: 1 carton Aspen Mulling Spices which is 1 cup, 4 Tb Cornstarch, 1/2 tsp salt, 3/4 cup of light corn syrup and 1/4 cup of water.  The recipe calls for 1 1/2 cup chopped fresh cranberries (in future I am going to decrease to 1 cup), 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, 1 1/2 cups chopped apples (increase to 3 for heaping pie) 2 Tb butter and of course the pie crust ingredients.

Preheat oven to 424 degrees.  Combine the Aspen Mulling Spices, cornstarch and salt in a large saucepan. Over low heat, add corn syrup and water,  Bring to a boil and add chopped cranberries.  Keep on a low boil for 5 minutes. In a large bowl, combine chopped apples and chopped nuts and then add the heated cranberry mixture.  Stir all together well and pour into the pie with the 2 Tb butter and cover with the top layer of dough.  Cut slits in the top and brush with milk. Sprinkle with sugar.
Bake 45 minutes at 425 degrees.

I feel like I am walking backwards and can't get anything accomplished - yet I AM but it doesn't SHOW.

I just want to play with dishes and ignore everything else!!!!!

Now that looks like a great recipe! And I love your fall china. I can almost smell the spices! I use their mulling spices during the holiday season. They are so good! About the bears...I don't think I would have been so calm, except for seeing the 44m pistol strapped on Chris's hip...a normal part of everyday apparel in that part of Alaska!
