WHEN THE PUSSY WILLOW BLOOMS

When summer comes I grumble
about the heat.  By July it is really
getting hot and we have a lot of
humidity.  Spring here in Missouri
is really lovely and does come very
early.  We have 4 distinctive seasons
and I do love that.

So in this early part of March I
am encouraged because I know that
spring will be here in the upcoming weeks
(and not just on the calendar).

So now the pussy willow is just beginning
to open it's buds.  The sight of it is
so hopeful and here and there bulbs are
popping out of the ground and
forget-me-nots that survived our
milder winter.  These were the little baby ones
from the big dying mother plants. I am
glad that last fall and I planted them
 here and there.

I am very thankful to have a wonderful
sewing room and craft room to help
occupy the winter.  Now,  I look forward
to time in the garden and to see how
things might be this year.

Talking about the lovely weather seems
inappropriate in view of the tornado
devastation last night in Tennessee.
I have been praying for these people today
and ask you to join me.

  2. Wonderful to Spring coming alive in your area. I am looking at
some snow in Ohio this morn. Your pictures let me know it will
soon be warmer. Tornado season is here early and so sad to see
the destruction and all the lost lives. An uplifting blog helps
us to see past some of the pain and loss. Thank you

  3. Love the four seasons in our neck of the woods, too. Winter was very mild this year, and it feels like springtime now. Green shoots are popping up, a few crocus are in bloom, and the robins have returned - a sure sign of spring. Joining you in celebration of spring, and sending prayers for Tennessee.

  4. I've never grown a pussy willow but love how they look in early spring! So excited for our flowers to return. You have such a lovely garden. My little daffodils, hyacinths and hellebores are blooming now and it has lifted my spirits so much. Yes it is very sad for the residents of Nashville and they are in my prayers.

  6. I enjoyed the photos of your pussy willows. I haven't seen them since I was a child. Yes there's much to pray about these days, including the people in TN. Heartbreaking, but usually brings about such a good spirit of neighbor helping neighbor.
