BEATRIX POTTER TEA IN THE GARDEN

Welcome to Tea in the Garden

I love having you join me this morning for a tea in my garden honoring Beatrix Potter.  Lately I have been enjoying reviewing my older issues of Victoria and especially this August 1988 issue which featured Beatrix and Hilltop Farm....come sit a little while in the morning shadows of my garden and remember Beatrix.....

We had our usual July wild hail storm this week so the garden got a little shredded....

I have set up a little Peter Rabbit Tea Table for us with all of Beatrix Potter's "friends".  I also have about 6 squirrel friends running about here this morning begging  for nuts...   Have you seen the movie "Miss Potter"- you would love it! I also enjoyed reading "Miss Potter's Journal" which I also have out this morning.

I know that many of you have the older issues of Victoria and enjoy them - this issue was the first "regular monthly" publication as at first Victoria was only published quarterly.....

You see the journal I spoke of and an out of print book I love "At Home with Beatrix Potter".

I know many of you have had the delight of visiting Hilltop Farm and many of my customers have been there.

  1. Such a lovely Beatrix Potter table setting, I admit to being besotted by anything and everything Beatrix Potter.
I have the journal, but would love to thumb through the pages of the book, having visited, it would evoke beautiful memories of my time in the Lake District.
Your garden is just splendid !

  3. I just adore your table setting. I love everything Beatrix Potter and am starting to collect a few pieces for my grand-daughter who is only 14 months. Someday we will have a Beatrix Potter tea party. Of course, Tom Kitten is my favorite.

  4. Oh - this is my Beatrix year! I love your garden tea with a personal favorite - and many of those lovelies you've set out I own, too! I remember that Victoria issue - I loved it because of the Beatrix story and pored over it again and again! I have the Journal and some of the china pieces and figurines. I'm currently doing research on her and her stories for my spring 2012 semester where I'll be adapting some of the stories for dramatization for my elementary students' end of year drama recital! Also - visit The Cottage Tales of Beatrix Potter for a wonderful series of cozy mysteries about Bea from 1906-1913 by Susan Wittig Albert. The last of the series is coming out in September. I've been thoroughly enjoying it - wonderfully written and whimsical! Click http://www.cottagetales.com/index.shtml - you'll be blessed!
    Joy!

  7. This is a very special tablescape! Love Beatrix Potter! I was so struck last week that we had just purchased the movie - we'd checked it out from the library before - then I visit your blog and hear the music from the movie! These dishes are just too precious! Love the books! So wonderful that those at Victoria shared our delight in Beatrix Potter with this article - perfect! Thank you for hosting and sharing this with A Return to Loveliness,
    God Bless,
    Kathy

  9. HI BERNIDEEN,
SORRY I MISSED TEA IN THE GARDEN ON SATURDAY WITH YOU. MY COMPUTER HAS BEEN ACTING UP SO BADLY LATELY, IT WILL COME ON (SOMETIMES) AND HALFWAY THROUGH A POST IT WILL GO OFF. LOOKS LIKE I WILL HAVE TO BRING IT IN TO GET FIXED. YOUR POST TODAY IS LOVELY. I LOVE BEATRIX POTTER, AND YES I DID SEE THE MOVIE, AND I LOVED IT. I HAD ABOUT 7 VHS MOVIES OF BEATRIX POTTER AND ALL HER LITTLE FRIENDS. MY FAVORITE IS MISS TIGGYWINKLE, BUT WITH THE DVD'S NOW, AND I DON'T HAVE A VHS ANYMORE, I GAVE THEM AWAY. IT WASN'T EASY TO DO, I REALLY LOVED THEM. HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEK. RIZZI

  10. What a great theme for tea in the garden. I was sorry that I didn't get to the Lake District when we went to England. For I adore her and all that she did to protect the land in that area. And, of course, her charming stories and illustrations.

Your tea things are lovely as is your table --
