FEBRUARY MEANS TIME FOR VIOLETS

As soon as Valentines Day
is over I begin to think
about violets!

We just got 3" of snow which isn't
really much but I will say Zero
degrees doesn't feel great on
the skin!  That's unusual for our
area of Missouri.

There are always things to do in the
winter:  sewing, baking or
crafting.  We don't mind staying in as
we re-watch a little of the
Downton Abbey series each day.

I have collected violet themed
items for years and mix it together
with my purple transferware:

I hope your winter is going
along well!

Hope your week is wonderful....

WHEN VIOLETS MAKE A RETURN

As soon as Valentines Day is
over, I seem to dream about
forest violets that begin to
pop up early in the springtime.

This seems like a lovely time to enjoy
the hope of spring with some violet
tea wares.

I started collecting violet
cups and saucers many
years ago.  These are
all English.

And some other
English pieces....

After some warm days this week
we ended up with some snow.  I
am sure many of you have experienced
this before and found it puzzling.
Inside the house, we currently are
enjoying spring violets.

I hope you have
 a lovely
weekend.

GETTING READY FOR VIOLETS

I thought I would do my part to encourage
spring by getting out all my violet bone
 china pieces and trying
to encourage things.

For one thing I like to go walk around
my neighborhood every day and this
winter hasn't been too good for that
situation.

I was able to get out twice this week and
did notice some bulbs just barely
popping up in various yards including
my own.

I won't be wearing these
on my feet.  I hope you
have had a lovely day
and ready for your new week!

FEBRUARY VIOLETS ARE A PROMISE OF SPRING!

About this time every year I bring
up all my violet china pieces
because it's time
 to think about lovely violets!

I have a February birthday so
I have always loved violets.

I remember as a teenager,
going out on a cold day in
Virginia and seeing violets
blooming under the leaves.  I had
a flower bed around an old
tree stump.  My family never spent
much money on plants or seeds for
flowers but rather we dug things
up that we found in the woods.

If you love to decorate for different
seasons you know that putting things
away can be quite a job too so I am glad
that the New Year and Valentine
 decorations are all packed away.

BRINGING OUT THE VIOLETS for "Friends Sharing Tea"

Have you noticed any
 early signs of spring?

When we lived in Spring, Texas many
years ago,  I loved that when February
came - spring arrived.  It was a very
short and mild winter there.  I  have
learned that each climate that has
some amazing plus - also has an
some minus.  In the Houston area
it was summer heat clear to winter.

I always look forward
 to the violets
of spring!

We have actually had two solid
days of rain and now we have
mud but that's all right because
I know things will green up now.

I love hankies with violets too!

Today a little bunny was sitting in
the rain outside our downstairs
sliding glass door.  I did feel sad
for him.  A squirrel  was very clever
and to my surprise I saw him up
looking in a birdhouse in the rain.
Then, I saw him chew the hole opening
for about 15 minutes - he chewed it
much bigger.  The next time I looked
he was snug inside looking out at
the falling rain.

Today I took this photo
from inside the house.

I hope you are having a nice winter
and did you notice that March 20
is the first official day of spring?
