FIRST TABLESETTING FOR 2025

What a job that was putting all those
Christmas treasures away.  I so
understand why - are you ready for
this - "old people" just get out a tiny
tree or nothing at all.

 Right before Christmas my
husband went to the market to grab
a few things and a man pulled out and totaled our car.  He said the driver was
an old guy so I asked "how old was he?"
Oh....about our age was the answer!
Haha!  Thankfully, my husband
wasn't injured.

I did my first table setting for the New
Year today and am sharing a tablecloth
I made with some purple toile fabric.
Many upholstery type fabrics are wider
and can make great tablecloths.

This is a bigger vintage toile pattern
sometimes called "House Party"
or "Litchfield House Party".
Laura Ashley marketed it too.

My transferware is Clarice Cliff
Rural Scenes.

I found this machine sewn vintage
quilt on Ebay which had perfect
colors for our "snug" area in our
home.  It is on the pony rail by
the stairs going down.

I hope you are keeping warm
and staying safe!

AN AUTUMN TEA TIME for "Tea In The Garden"

This week we are having amazing weather.
I love when the daytime temperature drops
to the 80's and even 70's here.  Last week
we had cold nights so I expected the
hummingbirds to leave and they did
but later I saw one at the feeder.
 Now they
are all gone.

What a beautiful day we had today.  The
squirrels were so busy dropping
thousands of acorns and also walnuts
although this year the acorns are
 probably
20 to 1.

I am sharing one of my quilts I pull
out in the fall and some brown
calico English wares.

Please enjoy one of these muffins
that I had put in the freezer.
They are delicious and the
recipe can be found right here:

This is the base of the oak that is
producing so many acorns.

Things are still green in our yard
but changing daily:

I gathered up a little of this
and that for a bouquet:

Last night it went down
to 39 degrees - burr......

We had a drought here this summer
in Central Missouri.  The corn is
being harvested now.  I was amazed
on a recent trip to Kansas City.  The
harvest was happening everywhere
on both sides of the interstate.  Corn
and soybeans were in abundance.

BLUEBERRY MUFFINS for "Tea In The Garden"

Today with lower temperatures in the 80's
range it was perfect weather for another
"Tea In The Garden" and since I looked
at the extended forecast and saw that
this weather will be short lived so I
decided  to take advantage of it.

We got some rain this week but
truly, we could have used another
day's worth!

This recipe for Blueberry Muffins
is here (click) however, I made a
different topping this time by mixing
2 Tb flour,  3 Tb Sugar, 1 Tb chopped
butter and 1/4 Tsp ground cinnamon.
I just put that on top of the muffins
 before I baked them.

I love old quilts....

These were the muffins when
they came out of the oven:

These particular
 blueberries
were huge.

I found my blue Daintee Ladyee
years ago in West Virginia.

You can see the branches of our giant
pussy willow in our front yard. I think
the size is unusual and it can be a
mess in the spring.

I hope your weekend is lovely.

A WARM DAY FOR "Tea In The Garden"

 Hello dear blogging friends and
finally we have some warm weather
again to get out in the garden and do a little
tea time vignette.  You know how it is
when you have days of rain and then
more rain.

I have a real fondness for
old vintage quilts.

Today is really a beautiful day
and the
birds are all happy in our backyard.
I seem to always have a lot of purple
flowers at this time of the year.

The sun now will really make a
difference.  I have heard others say
the same comment which is that our
spring is a little behind this year because
of cooler weather.

This is the gate on one side going
into the back yard.

Blogging just isn't as popular as it
used to be.  I think Twitter taught
people that journalism needed to
be in a hurry.

I love the unique shaped Columbines.  We
have an abundance of Chickadees at
our house.  I have to say I find that
noise they make very annoying.  If
you have heard that you will know what
I mean.  Please enjoy one of my
brownies I made earlier and froze some
in a carton.

I always remember the late Tasha Tudor saying that she bragged about her forget
me nots.  I  laughed when she said that
on her video.  I can get carried away
sometimes too!

I hope you have enjoyed a visit
 to my garden today.

There is a "Sewing With Vintage Linens"
Category down on the right that shows
many things to do sewing with
vintage linens or just the covers here!

Wishing all the Mother's a
Very Happy Mother's Day!
