COLLECTING CUPS AND SAUCERS

What's not to love about collecting
 cups and saucers?  That's what
 I want to share today.




  I have been collecting cups and saucers since I was a child....just a few years....ha.  Most all of my childhood pieces were from Japan and mostly demitasse sized. 



I have been playing with my new camera and have so much to learn.  People come in my store every day with cameras so I have been asking them lots of questions and I find that people are very helpful.  







I have another tip - stay away from ceramic dishes as they chip very easily. Porcelain and bone china are so much stronger.  Lastly, always run your finger around the rim of the cup and the saucer.  Last year I bought some German pieces  for resale at my store from an  antique dealer in Kansas. He had stuck a price sticker over a chip on the saucer.  That wasn't so nice!  Be careful!

    beautiful cups..I love all the floral one's in pinks, white, and pretty lavender colors...I had to stop collecting as I had run out of storage space..so now I'm enjoying all yours! LOL! beautiful photo's too..

    Thanks for the tips, Benideen, I'll have to remember then especially the one about running your finger around the edge of the cup. A couple months ago I bought a teacup from a thrift store and didn't notice till I got home that it had a small chip and crack in it.

    Hi Bernideen,
    thats a nice collection. Thank you for the helpful tipps. Its not easy to focus on a plan when you find so many beautiful cups. But surely it makes the collection much nicer when it has a certain color scheme. That was really bad of the seller to cover the chip with a sticker.

    0 0 0 0 0000000 0h what BEEE-UTIFUL tea cups. Thanks for the tips;I will go back and read those again. I agree one would do well to keep in mind where that teacup will be "living" when choosing it. I find I always struggle with staying focused on my original goals and plans for my environment.

    Lovely collection of teacups.... love the purple 'rose' and the hydrangea too. So pretty! Great tips... and that vender was rotten to hide a chip under the tag.

    I just this last summer started a collection of tea cups and I wanted only roses on the cup & saucers. I was planning a tea and using only these. I didn't find a lot of matching sets so have mixed them up however the colors blend
