THE HUNT FOR LINENS, TEAPOTS AND ENGLISH CUPS AND SAUCERS

Hello to all my tea loving friends and those who share a passion for collecting teacup and saucers, teapots, and the like!

Last weekend I was out antiquing and picked up some English teacups and saucers at reasonable prices.  I decided to keep three and sell the rest at my shop.

I also found an English Sadler teapot and this lovely pink tulip cross stitch table topper.   One of my cup and saucers has the same pattern as the teapot.  Another topper I found is pink embroidered clover with little blue flowers.

I love old linens and frequently find them.  They come in many different color themes and include seasonal ones, 50's printed styles, embroidered florals and fruits, appliqued teacup/teapot motifs and then plain or solid color embroidery and cutwork ones too!  You can layer them over other table cloths, etc.  Even card tables look lovely with linens.  Like my grandmother, many women in the 50's sat and watched televison and embroidered.

  1. What a beautiful tea table you've set, Bernideen. I love your hand embroidered topper and also the clover piece. Your tea cups are lovely and I adore how you've displayed your teapot on the cake stand with the gorgeous doily hanging over the edge. What a pretty Spring display.

I haven't been out in weeks and I long to get to one of my favourite shops in town. She has lovely vintage things there right now and I would love to get in and have a look around. Soon, I hope.

  15. I share your love of vintage ( and not so vintage) linens. I have woven, stitched, and collected linens for years and every time I see or use linens on my table I take time to consider and appreciate the work, often a labor of love, stitched into every linen. I also hope anyone who would dain to use my hand stitched linens would pause even for a second to appreciate them.

Your teacups are so pretty, and I do appreciate the cross-stitched lines you pictures.

Thank-you for hosting this tea time Bernideen.

  21. Wonderful finds! the teacup with the 6 (or is it 8?) sides really caught my eye! I love older linens and had to giggle when I read your comment about the 50's. I do that now -- counted cross stitch -- except I'm not watching the tv ... just listening!!!! :D :D Happy Tea Day!

As well as tea cups! And you have done very well! All three are sweet. The square shaped cup is unusual as well as beautiful.

  34. Bernideen I love that table topper! I adore vintage linens but don't run across them that often. My cousin gave me a printed one that was one her mother had never done. I started it a few years ago but put it up. I really need to pull it out and work on it. Love all of your lovely teacups and the doily on the cake stand. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann
