UNLOADING IN MISSOURI

Welcome to my Bernideen's Tea Time, Cottage and Garden
Blog Party and welcome to MISSOURI.
 Did you think
we would ever get here?
Well, that's what I was beginning to think too!

Well, this is our retirement home which is built on a
hill and is what they call a raised rancher as you
can walk out the back.  The lower level is almost
all finished and I will have a large "personal tea room" down there.  Yes, I look forward to sharing that room and others with you!
  I love the Forsythia
bush on the right side of the house.

Back at the end of January we moved 1/2 of our furnishings in a large truck to this house.  After that, we had to go back to Colorado to work on our Colorado home where we have lived
for the last 22 years.  We worked 39 out of 41 days updating
that home and having our kitchen redone, carpet, etc -
you know, getting it ready to sell.
Last Thursday night we finally arrived back in
Missouri with our 2nd last truck load.
  I wondered
what this tree was when we were here in January
and now I know - a Pussy Willow!

This is one of the things I love about the house - a koi pond although I have much to learn about this as I know nothing at all.  We will be having a privacy fence put around our yard and then the garden work begins!
When I was a little girl, all the old ladies would dig
up their plants when they moved - well on a recent unseasonably
warm day in Colorado I did dig up a few to bring!

I love the old cedar in the back and a little creek that runs
through - we plan to clean that all out and build a bridge over it -
just not now - we are pooped.

When I saw Cardinals here I was so excited
as we didn't have them in Colorado:

These wonderful Bradford Pear trees (above) are blooming all
over Columbia!

I will be sharing more to come about
our new ( 15 years old) house.
 It isn't a mansion but
rather a cottage.....in fact, since we live
in what is called  "Quail Creek",
I have decided to call this house
"Quail Creek Cottage".
 Right now every
day is unpack, unpack and unpack
 some more.
I will say this though -  this is much more fun than packing!

I welcome all you bloggers to share in this blog party below!

  3. Welcome to Missouri Bernideen! Your cottage looks lovely and love the name! I need to come up with a name for my house. :) I did not know you didn't have Cardinals in Colorado, I wonder why? There are plenty of those beauties around here for your eyes to behold. Your koi pond is great and your plans of a bridge and a fence sound wonderful! Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
    See you soon!

  4. Your new home looks wonderful and the Cardinals are gorgeous but elusive. They love sunflower seeds on a standstill birdfeeder, which always makes squirrels happy too. I can see your little bridge---already and the cedar will be gorgeous when it's pruned.

Hope you are settling in the nest of Quail Creek Cottage, thanks for sharing, Sandi

  6. I am so happy you arrived safely! Now I know what you were referring to as a raised rancher. I love houses with a walk-out basement. The Bradford Pear trees are in full bloom here, too. No Cardinals in Colorado? Thanks for that little tidbit of information.

  8. Good morning Bernideen! You must be exhausted. How fun to set up a new home now. It will be beautiful in no time, as you have such lovely taste and decorate so well. Your home is just the right size for retirement living. Love the cottage name too. Jim's family lives in Springfield, Illinois, and your home looks very much like the homes there. I am envious of the blue skies...it's so grey and wet here in Oregon. I need some sunshine. Happy decorating my friend and Happy Easter.
    Love

  14. Bernideen, I am so glad you're finally settled into your new home! Yes, it will take a while to get everything organized, I remember well. Your home and property look like a little haven and I can't believe the blossoms! The grass looks lush and green. In comparison, we're still in the middle of winter here. A snow storm blew through here yesterday and the temps are COLD. The wind is so strong that it blew the screen door off the patio door. That's a first. I look forward to having a peek at more of your cottage and garden. My cousin has a koi pond and it is simply charming. I am so excited for you that you will have your own little tea room. Thank you for sharing and Happy Easter, my friend!

    Blessings,
    Sandi
