It was rainy yesterday and
 hopefully it
will continue for
the next few days!  Missouri
has been in a drought so I am
very happy about rain!

So,  down in the basement tea room
we go to enjoy a cup of tea this
morning.  You can pick your
own teapot too.

This year I realized that Zinnias
are the most heat tolerate flower
in the garden.

You probably already know this but
Old Country Roses has been referred
to as the most beloved pattern
all time....

There was a short period of time
that they produced a chintz pattern.

I think OCR is especially lovely
at Christmas Time.

I hope you have had a good summer.
The children and teenagers returned to
 school here in Missouri yesterday.
I grew up in Virginia where we never went
back to school until after Labor Day.
Of course, we got out for summer break
much later though too!

  1. Hi Bernideen! Your flower arrangements are so lovely. I adore zinnias and find them continuing to bloom well (I deadhead regularly). Rudbeckia and coneflowers are pretty heat tolerant and drought tolerant as well. We are in drought too; as we were last summer as well. We got about 1/2" of rain last evening which is the first significant rain since June 10 - when our area experienced significant flooding. Crazy! I have OCR too and adore it. Have a good and rainy week! Beth

  2. What a pretty tea you've set in your basement tea room, Bernideen! Your bouquet is just stunning, and I'm envious of your zinnias. We've had rain, too, and I'm most grateful. Since you've asked, I would like the chintz teapot today, although both are just gorgeous. Your buffet is so beautifully set for our teatime. Thank you for hosting and have a happy week.

  3. A very good morning to you, Bernideen! Praise the Lord about the rain you are receiving...oh, what a blessing. We, too, need rain here in Colorado. Yesterday was so smoky that I could barely see the mountains around us.

Thank you for a lovely post. Your china is always so beautiful and your flowers well, be still my heart! Hugs to you!

  4. I love you OCR chintz tea set! I have a teacup in the chintz and it’s a favorite!

  5. I do love the Old Country Roses pattern and the chintz is gorgeous! I agree with you that OCR is especially lovely at Christmastime which is why I usually use it at least once during that time.
I think my son began teaching this week too but I'm not sure. I guess it differs from state to state down there. Children here in Canada don't go back until after Labour Day which is nice because we still have lots of summer left. It's so nice that you have a tea room set up in your basement for those days that you can't have tea in the garden. Thanks for hosting and have a lovely day!

  6. I'll have to remember that Zinnias do well in heat as we are moving to a hotter in summer clime. Beautiful tea spread.

  7. My grandson's school doesn't start until after Labor Day still.
What beautiful pictures. It's funny, but I don't have one cup or plate in this pattern. I do love just enjoying others that have it though. Love also the zinnias!!! Wishing for rain here to clear the air of forest fire smoke.

  8. How lovely down here in your tea room. Believe me, my basement is nothing like this! Are you going to allow me an entire pot of tea? I’ll happily pour from the Country Roses pot. Glad that you are getting some rain when you need it so.

  9. Hi dear Bernideen!I love your gorgeous china!I don't have OCR china yet,I wish I could have this pattern someday.Your flowers are adorable,so colorful! Thanks for hosting and visiting!Hugs,Maristella.

  10. RA's OCR is one of my favourite patterns too! My parents gifted me with the tea set a few years ago.

I'm trying to savor the last days of summer. When I was still in school, our summer ran from July to Labour Day. Thanks for hosting and enjoy your rainy weather.

  11. Bernideen,
What a beautiful post!! So much eye candy!!

  12. Bernideen, I always love your teatimes--in the garden or in your basement tearoom! Thank you for hosting. I think schools all across the country start much earlier now, I suppose to make up for more days off throughout the year.

  13. Just beautiful---basement or outside--wherever you serve is perfect. I didn't realize that they had produced a chintz pattern at one time. I really like that--it is so pretty.

Hope you have a Tea-filled Thursday and have a few Tee-Hee's along the way! xo Diana

  14. Your zinnias are gorgeous and I love your tea cups and pot. Thanks for hosting, Bernideen!....Christine

  15. Hi Bernideen,
I'm glad that you are having some rain since it's needed. Your tea time post is so lovely today. Royal Albert's Old Country Rose is one of my all time favourites. Your chintz pattern is gorgeous! I would love that treasure in my collection! Your flowers look beautiful and that white sideboard is just my taste. Thank you for hosting Tea in the Garden indoors. Blessings, Karen

  16. I love the OCR pattern! You have so many beautiful pieces. Thanks for hosting and for joining me at HSH!
