With fire raging on the mountain range west of Colorado Springs, we had already decided to spend the day visiting our daughter Holly in Boulder, Colorado. It was a very hot day and we did a lot of walking around the downtown Pearl Street Mall area and the park.
Holly and her Dad:
I am "The Big Girl" on the right. That's what I call myself lately since I have put on some pounds.
We had breakfast at the historic cultural center known as Chatuauqua Dining Hall.
This photo below was taken this morning and you can see how bad the smoke is from the 3 areas of fires, Waldo Canyon, Williams Canyon and Queens Canyon all on top of the mountain range.
We appreciate your prayers for the firefighters and personnel involved as 4600 acres are involved. No homes destroyed yet. Also, if this is an arsonist -pray whoever it is - is CAUGHT!
Oh boy, I will pray for the firefighters and that the fire can be gotten under control. It's nice to see you, your daughter and husband. Boulder looks like a great place to visit. I think my nephew and his new bride will be moving there for her to complete a fellowship program in poetry...
ReplyDeleteI've wondered about you -- hopefully, there will be no loss of property. We have our nature -- tornados but fire I think is so much worse! The firefighters are both saints and heroes.
ReplyDeleteI was in Boulder recently, too, and enjoyed many of the same sights. Had to get some CROCs! As I remember it was over 100 degrees the day we went--I think our whole month/season schedule is ahead of itself by 4-6 weeks this year. The wheat is already being harvested and it's not even July yet! And we are cooking and drying up. I'm hoping the monsoons come early and give our state a chance to get the fires out. ♥♫
ReplyDeleteYou must have had a wonderful time! I have been thinking about you...hoping the fires aren't close. Am definitely praying for those involved. It's terrible!

And you look lovely!
Oh I am so sorry about those fires. They are so scary. I live in the foothills of Cent Calif and we have our share of fires too. I pray for all of you affected by them. Your blog is gorgeous and I have been enjoying your photos. Hugs,
