This morning I made a Peach Pie before work. I am a girl on the go if you know what I mean - that is - I don't have a lot of time for perfection. Please don't "judge" my lattice crust but I can assure you my hubby will love this.
Last Saturday I was loaded up with wonderful fruits and vegetables from Debbie and Dave. They come up from Pueblo where there are many gardens and fruits and vegetables. I am enjoying using these things and today that plate of peaches became a pie! I love
buying fresh produce from this couple.
Would you like a piece? Help yourself! Pour yourself a cup of tea as well!
By the way...since you're here listening....I WANT TO COMPLAIN about something - that is, the price of CRISCO! Can you believe the price of crisco now? What are they thinking?
Preheat oven to 425 degrees:
Here is the recipe ingredients for the pie crust: 2 cups flour sifted, 1 tsp salt, 3/4 cup of crisco, 5 Tb iced water
And the pie ingredients: 6 cups of sliced fresh ripe peaches, 1 tsp lemon juice, 3/4 cup light brown sugar, 2 Tb flour, 1/2 Tsp ground cinnamon - all very basic
After you make the crust bottom and put it in the pie plate, dump in the peach mixture, add the lattice and brush the tops of the dough with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 425 degrees for about 35 minutes (watch for too much browning) BAKE AWAY!
Good afternoon Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteYour pie looks fabulous and I'm sure it is delicious. I am loving your table; so pretty in its Autumn colours. Love the teapot!
I thoroughly enjoyed your post today and thank you for joining me. The price of Crisco and many other items such as flour here is just sky-high. I wonder if it's because there are not as many baking any more. Enjoy your day.
Blessings,
Sandi
Yes, I would love a piece of peach pie to go with my tea that I am sipping on while reading everyone's post. Your crust looks good and I am sure test good too.
ReplyDeleteLooks great to me Bernideen!!
ReplyDeleteI've never made peach pie. Perhaps it's time. My thoughts on prices: if you can afford it, buy it. If you can't afford it, don't buy it. Never complain about it either way, unless you want to add to the energy that makes the prices to go even higher. Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteWow..totally gorgeous..exquisite beauty!!Shine on..what a fabulous pie..and beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteThankyou for such a magical post!

Bernideen, What a gorgeous fall table! The peach pie looks so scrumpous and I am drooling. The teapot is so lovely and is perfect for autumn. I am always remembering our visit at your beautiful shop and your graciousness when I read your posts.
ReplyDeleteThanks, pam
It still looks perfect (and luscious) to me! I am terrible at pastry and always do a streusel topping. I admire you for doing pastry! I love your fall table. I haven't gotten mine done yet...
