SWEET AUGUST MEMORIES for "Tea In The Garden"

Sometimes it's fun to look back and
remember other times and places:

So let's take a few minutes and
look back today at some
old August issues of Victoria magazine.

We have actually had some days in the 80's lately
which has been quite wonderful given the fact
that usually temperatures are in the high 90's now.

I have never been the greatest fan
 of August but
I try to have a good attitude and
 take whatever
comes.

The August 1988 issue had a wonderful
article about Beatrix Potter.  This
was Victoria's first monthly issue at
that time.  I love the photography in these
magazines.

If you love tea time, I hope you can
join me with a post about tea time
from your blog - at the bottom of this post.

I have been enjoying the bees and the
butterflies today.  At any given time
in our yard the Cicadas are  screaming
very loud.  I have to confess,
they scare me a little.  Let's just say, I
don't ever want one on me!

  2. Thank you so much for hosting, Bernideen! Your photos with the flowers and buggies closeup are so pretty. I also love to peruse older magazines, I am so glad I kept some over the years; especially my Vogues. To access the archives online is a very pricey membership per year! Thank you for sharing!

  5. I love Victoria magazine! I bought my first issue that year, it was the year I married, and have enjoyed it ever since. I have kept all my issues. I love to get them out and look at them again seasonally!

  6. We have had a "cold front" and temperatures in the 90's instead of the 100's!! I haven't minded August so far, Bernideen, except that next week is the 4th anniversary of my husband's passing. Your white picket bench is soooo pretty, as is your yard. Thank you so much for hosting your tea party for us.

  7. Beautiful butterfly and bees shots! It's been an odd summer up here with the wet weather and oscillating temperatures. Thank you for hosting and the heads up about the upcoming national afternoon tea of the week!

  8. Bernideen, your "I have never been the greatest fan of August but I try to have a good attitude and take whatever comes" sounds just like me. I normally don't give outdoor tea parties during hot weather, but a friend talked me into it once. So I made my homemade strawberry ice cream and served it in white Johnson Bros tea cups. It was a lifesaver! Now I have it at all outdoor teas. Thank you for hosting. Stay cool!

  10. Hi Bernideen,
I am sorry I am a little late to link up this week. I had to babysit on Wednesday and then we went down to the cottage and had constant company. I just love looking at your garden and that wooden bench is so lovely. The teapots are beautiful! I am wondering the name of the one on the bench. Is it an Ellgreave? I think the one on the table is a Sadler. I must look at some past Victoria Magazines that my SIL has given me - it's so relaxing. Thank you for hosting Tea in the Garden each week. Blessings, Karen
