Taking tea in 2014 will be just as lovely - if not more lovely than it was in 2013! I think hot tea always tastes the best when it is cold outside and it certainly is that. Sitting here by the winter window we can admire our recent snow - so nice that it covers the brownness of winter.
Now that Christmas is all packed up we know that winter will be with us for a while so let's enjoy all our hot tea opportunities.
I am sharing this small English teapot (or could it be a coffee?) that is perfect for tea for one or two. (I later sold this though)
The English cup and saucer is called "Lavender Lady". The teapot is 1930's -40's Art Deco Style with fruits and roses by K Tunstall. Both have a gold filigree background. I have seen pieces like this before on some of my favorite blogs. Have you noticed pieces like this while out antiquing?
My other cup and saucer with the pansies is an English Tuscan. I am finding these from time to time and love the brand.
We had a snowy day all day Saturday. After seeing pictures on the news I need to say that this was nothing like you folks in the northeast just experienced!
I have baked us something too! Are you hungry - good - you are!
Please help yourself to one of these Lemon Cream Cheese Scones and the lemon curd too! You can find the recipe at the link.
Yours is the most charming winter window I've seen lately. The pretty tea pot/coffee pot is one I have seen. I may even have a similar pattern in tea cups. I have been having tea every afternoon lately. It is wonderfully bracing and soothing just as you say.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Bernideen! Thank you so much for hosting....your refreshments look delish...I would love to have one! Hugs, Penny
ReplyDeleteWhat a cozy tea setting! Love the teapot and your choice of teacups. And serving lemon curd in the swan is a sweet idea. Lovely refreshments, Bernideen, and thank you for sharing them with Tea Time. Thank you too for hosting and I wish us all a wonderful new year of tea parties.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
I loved seeing the lemon curd in the swan! Now I have a plan for mine and need to see which one will work for a sweet serving piece. You are always an inspiration! Happy New Year and may you be blessed in 2014.♥♫
ReplyDeleteI wanted to do a "Tea Party" yesterday in honor of the new season of Downton Abbey, but work took precedence. Your setting is lovely, as usual, and I wish I lived near by to see it in person, XOXO
ReplyDeleteHello Bernideen
ReplyDeleteA couple of pretty teacups for us this week and I love your table right beside the window. I thought about doing this in our kitchen but would have to swag the light fixture over beside the window I suppose. It would be so nice to sit there watching the birds, of course I'd never get anything done inside.
Thank you for hosting and sharing another yummy recipe.
Judith
A lovely tea setting. I always am happy after I have visited your site.
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful window setting is perfect for Afternoon Tea for Two! Love your teaware and the cheerful flowers. The scones and lemon curd look delicious too!
ReplyDeleteLovely indise and outside! Especially nice to have such a lovely tea setting when it's cold and snowy outside. Love your vintage china, and your photos are lovely...as always!

I love the tea pot -- so old-fashioned and lovely. And a tea table near the window is really pretty.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fresh and lovely tea time post! I love the lavender teacup! Always a treat to visit your blog.
ReplyDeleteMmmm, lemon cream cheese scones sound absolutely delicious! Your tea pot with the gold filligree and flowers is so vintage! I love it ! The tea cup with the gold filigree is really wonderful too! They go well together.
ReplyDeleteAnd I always love a pansy tea cup. Your table at the window does look so charming.
It is super cold here today too. Time to bundle up by the fire with a cup of warm tea : )
Hugs,
Terri
Oh how I wish I was sitting with you at your pretty table, Bernideen! It's the perfect setting for a lovely visit, my friend. The swan is such a beautiful dish for holding your lemon curd. I love the teapot and would be thrilled to find one. Thank you for hosting and stay warm and cozy. xo
ReplyDeleteJoy to you and your winter tea by the window, Bernideen! Welcome to our new year of teatimes! A delightful tablescape you have set out - absolutely love the deco teapot! A grand find antiquing. I will be doing more of that this year - joyfully - and keeping a keen eye out for tea things. We are in South Jersey and keeping fortified against a wind chill today of -12 - Brrrrr!! Had a foot of snow last weekend - but all gone in the rain yesterday. Today - sub zero weather. I think I'll take out all my springtime roses and flower patterned teacups to warm me.
ReplyDeleteJoy!
Kathy
I'm sorry to link up so late. I've only been back to work for two days and I'm already beyond with everything! I love your teapot/coffeepot. Stay warm and safe.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tea, Bernideen. Such a lovely view and setting. It's just COLD here. I am at work and brought my electric kettle so my co-worker and I could have hot tea or coffee! I do appreciate you hosting and hope you have a blessed week,
ReplyDeleteKathy
If only you could e-mail me one of your Lemon Cream Cheese Scones, I would be a happy tea lover indeed!
ReplyDeleteYour teapot and teacups are beautiful. You also have a lovely spot for tea there in front of that window. Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteSherry
I am in love with those beautiful plates.
ReplyDeleteThey are just sweet. Oh I need to set up
a winter window for tea very soon. So
pretty!
You are so right about sipping tea INDOORS while enjoying the snow covered landscape outside. I would love some snow around here, but it I still pretty cold and perfect for a cup of hot tea.
ReplyDeleteYour tea table is lovely and I really like the church birdhouses .Yes, now I'm hungry after seeing your tea time fare.
That's a really pretty tea pot Bernideen. I don't tend to care if it was labelled tea or coffee pot, as long as I like it that's all that matters to me. Oh, that reminds me, yesterday I ordered an earl grey tea at lunch and it came with such a tiny tea pot that I had to ask to have it refilled four time! Restaurants should really invest in decent sized pots! :)
ReplyDeleteOh Bernideen, your tea pot is just lovely to look at. I have been on the road heading South for 2 days and so I won't be joining in tea as RV living doesn't allow for a pretty tea table all set to enjoy tea. However I have stopped off at any antique shops along the way and I"ve notseen this pattern. The pansy on the other hand I belive I even have this cup and saucer. Thanks for having me for tea today it was lovely, and your scones look yummy and the lemon curd devine in the white swan
ReplyDeleteHello Bernideen, beautiful, cozy tea by the window! I do appreciate you sharing with A Return to Loveliness,
ReplyDeleteKathy
Beautiful tea Bernideen! I love the Paperwhites in the basket. Yes, we might as well embrace Winter. I think it will be here a while longer. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
