TIME TO GET BACK TO BASICS

 I need to let you know that I am discontinuing
 my Monday morning BTTCG Blog Party.

  It's time for me to get back to the basics of
 having the time I need to do my own posts .
 Those of you who do blog link parties will understand
 because it takes so much time.  I will continue
my Friday tea related blog party for those of you
 love tea time.

Thank you everyone who has participated in this Monday party.
I will continue to participate in a few blog parties myself.

Saturday night we went west of Columbia
 over to what is
 called "Cooper's Landing" which is
 on the Missouri River. On the way we passed
 by this 350 year old and 90 ft tall oak tree in McBaine:

TREES
BY JOYCE KILMER
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

Our son wanted us to hear my Grandson's Mandolin
teacher preform with his "Swampweed Cajun Band"
 right next to the Missouri River.
 I have to tell you it was hot as all get out!
  Hope you enjoy these photos:

We were glad when the sun set and it cooled off just a little:

We sat under this giant sycamore and watched loyal
locals dance - believe me it was hot so I admired their
enthusiasm.

She was a free spirited one who danced everywhere:

  1. I've been hearing a lot about the heat. We are warming up here this week, too, but nothing like the midwest, etc. Stay cool. Reading about the heat makes me think of our son's wedding last summer with 106 degree weather...ouch! Have a good week.

  3. Dear Bernideen, I was sad to read that you are stopping the BTTCG Blog Party. I always enjoyed participating and also reading yours and other people's posts your really attracted a nice crowed of bloggers. But understand that if it is too time consuming, you have to let it go. Anyway, I would like to thank you for hosting it as long as you did!
    Warm regards,
    Christina

  6. We certainly understand your need to host only one party, Bernideen. Thank you for putting in all the time and effort to host BTTCG, and I'm so happy that you'll still have your Friday party.
    I loved seeing your fun time and pictures along the Missouri River. Isn't it great that you're near family?

  7. I do indeed understand about the double blogs...especially when you have family close now and new places to explore! As a Brit & San Francisco raised Brit...we just don't handle heat at all! But what a fun time and place! Have a wonderful week!

  12. Does that mean I need to change my tea posts from Tuesday to Fridays? Hummm? I was on a roll with tea posts on Tuesday. Must give that some thought. Love that you are getting out and about in Missouri.

  13. Bernideen, I came by to sign up for the party, but I am glad you are taking time to enjoy your life and your new surroundings. I can only imagine how much work goes into putting on these parties. I will be checking in every once in awhile and hope you will do the same. Have a wonderful summer and great fun with your family and your new cottage..xxo Judy

  14. The old tree is fun to visit however going to Cooper's Landing on a day with heat index 110 NO WAY.I don't know how the band stood it either.
    I guess maybe i'm the only person who stays out of the horrible heat. I like my air condition

  15. I understand about your need to discontinue the Monday party- having two linky parties is a LOT of work, I cannot even imagine!

    Sorry I haven't been participating in a while - seriously I have had probably 20 different tea gatherings in the last few months and didn't take a pic of a single thing. How sad is that. Blogging takes forever to do it well.

    And, well, you know what I am doing lately, every chance I get, right?

    I hear ya about this heat- it is absolutely unbearable. My poor garden - I have neglected it due to this swelting humid heat. I can't take it, I am a big baby. Remember me, I am the one who really likes winter. Hugs. ♥

  16. Beautiful river!

    I'll miss your link up and I appreciate you doing it. I completely understand not doing it anymore!

    I love seeing you getting family time. I'm certain that Autumn in the Ozarks will be beautiful!
