OH DEAR - MORE RAIN

It rained all night and now it is
pouring and one wonders where
this is all coming from.  The Missouri
and the Mississippi Rivers are so full.

They say a garden is never quite the same
from one year to another and that
makes sense because of weather
conditions, etc.

These yellow irises are from
some bulbs I brought here
in 2016 from Colorado.

 I have
really enjoyed my alliums:

I am wondering now if they come
in other colors too.

I hope your springtime
is coming along too!  I was able
to take these photos on
Monday in between raindrops.

  1. Hi Bernideen, Lots of water on both sides of our state as well. Your garden is ahead of mine; no irises in bloom here yet, nor are the clematis or allium. Daffodils are done and tulips are about done blooming. Lots of blooms to look forward to. Your garden looks great! Love the red birdhouse too. Is someone nesting there?

  2. This has been an exceptionally unusual spring. Hope that the rain subsides because enough is enough. Your garden will love it, though.

  3. Here in the ARkansas Ozarks, we are getting lots of rain too. I am so afraid when it stops, it will stop. Period. It seems Mother Nature has a way of doing that. I planted alliums and three other kinds of bulbs several weeks ago. The alliums are up and growing. I wonder if they will bloom this year. Your pictures make me anxious to see how they turn out. I do so love your garden. Your Beatrix Potter theme is oh-so-special.

  4. We’ve been cool and have had rain but not like last year! So much rain all year!

You’ve inspired me with your alliums! I may need to add some to my garden! I love the shape and texture!

  5. Your photos and video were lovely Bernideen. I was actually thinking of your area when I worked on my own post today. They have asked us here to refrain from using our washing machines and unnecessary showers---because the drainage/sewer systems are so taxed. Just a bit west of me, a few miles is the line for draining into the Fox River which then drains into the Illinois and to the Mississippi. The Mississippi watershed is so huge as is the Missouri.

We had a couple of inches last night---and well, it just has no where to go as the ground is saturated. Let's hope we get a few days of sun or at least not deluges, Sandi.

  7. We've had a lot of rain, too, Bernideen, but it has saved me from watering my newly laid sod.
I so enjoyed your video of your inspirational garden.
    Happy Mother's Day!

  9. Your irises are gorgeous! The yellow ones look especially delicate and remind me of little girls playing. And the birdbath with the mice and dozing cat is adorable. Have a lovely Mother's Day!
    Blessings, Linda
