Last weekend I found a lovely old tea set (it really is a coffee pot) from Bavaria, Germany at the large antique mall on Broadway in Denver. If I was guessing - I'd say it looks like it is from the 1960's and features 6 different wild flowers on each piece with the names of each in German and English such as: Viola, Creeping Crowfoot, Cowslip, Wild Thyme, Lady's Mantle, Daisy, etc. One cup and saucer must have been broken because their are 8 plates.
A slip of paper inside this coffee pot revealed it was originally owned by a lady in Boulder, Colorado. A special thanks to Johanna in Germany who sent me an email letting me know that this "Meadow and Mountain Heights" teaset is from the 1930-1950's. She gave me a lot of information about it!
This teaset was later sold on Etsy!!!!
That is an amazing set!!! Your tablecloth with the doilies on it caught my eye in the beginning-perfect for your beautiful pieces.♥♫
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful teaset! That is a great find, Bernideen. Your garden looks lovely as always. Happy Tea in the Garden Day!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful, beautiful tea set --- I just love the wildflowers. And it's very special that there was a note for you inside the teapot. It makes it even more meaningful. I have some notes in my teapots too --- mine --- but someday they'll belong to someone else and I don't want their history to be forgotten. Thank you for sharing with us!!! I wish I could be there to sip tea with you from your lovely tea set!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tea set, and the pot looks like a teapot to Me!
ReplyDeleteDear Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations - this is a very very famous set. The pattern has the cute name: Wiesengrund und Bergeshöh'n. That means in poetic words: mead's and mountain heights. I guess, the name comes from the flowers which grow in meadows and mountains. The Maker is Krautheim & Adelmann in Selb/Bavaria. It is one of the most charming sets and some years older as you expected. I will send you an email with details. The flower decoration is perfect in your fairy garden.
Best greetings, Johanna
