Some of my favorite moments are those spent scouting out yard sales, flea markets or some previously unvisited antique mall. I am always fascinated by all the different things people are searching for.
Recently I noticed someone who delights in primitive items. Another man was buying old oil cans (like Frankie on The Pickers) and hardware from another century and there I was scouring for vintage linens and teacups and saucers and the like.
I am sharing some of my weekend treasures today including another Tuscan cup and saucer which has more silver on it and slightly different than the first two I found. Also: a pretty pink embroidered runner, a Swan vase, another straw hat to wear in the garden and another white milk glass vase.
What have you been looking for?
Hi Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteI just love that Tuscan cup and saucer! It is a beauty and I am going to look for one just like it when I go treasure hunting next weekend (as long as you don't mind me being a copy cat). Your tablecloth is lovely too. That teapot in the background is another of your sweet pretties!
Thank you so much for sharing.
Looking forward to visiting your home again soon.
Take care,
Karen
The search is so much a part of the fun of finding special treasures. You found some special ones. I am always keeping my eye out for transferware teacups and small plates, but you never know what else might jump up and grab my attention. Right now I am thinking of what to get rid of at a sale I will be having the end of July, so looking in my house for things I am not using or enjoying.
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely, lovely, Bernideen! I love your swan! You always find the prettiest things. I am waiting for the shops out in the country to open. My favourite one won't open until almost July. I am on the hunt for a couple of teacup patterns which I am pretty sure I will find in there. I am only collecting certain patterns now unless I find one that I just cannot live without. Your new teacup is lovely as are the linens. I am also on the hunt for pink depression glass. Thank you for joining me for tea.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
Yay, I can finally get on your blog. Neat things you found, I like the swan; it will look nice with some flowers in it on your garden tea table.

Very elegant and romantic setting. Those blue and white pieces are just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots as always!
Thanks for sharing.
Hope to see you on my blog:)
Greetings from Singapore...
Bernideen, I am so glad you found so many lovely treasure. The pink runner is perfect with the chintz teacup and saucer. The joy of finding a treasure is so much fun. I love to go to several thrift shops in particular and was actually at a great antique mall today! I hope you are enjoying your beautiful garden! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm with you Kathy. I LOVE moments spent at thrifties and yardies. I'm always on the lookout for pretty linens, colored glass (cranberry is my fave but it's SOOOo expensive and I don't need another piece), and anything really that catches my eye.
ReplyDeleteLove your cup, swan, and milkglass vase. So pretty, one and all. Susan
How odd! I look for all the same things you look for right down to the swan planter. You found some lovely things and oh how I'd be interested in the cobbled potting bench.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoy looking for china and linens and a potting bench would fit right in too! I love the pink runner - so pretty. The cup and saucer is a sweet pattern. You did pretty good I think. Blessings, Pamela
ReplyDeleteI love the teacups. Tuscan always made lovely designs. And who can pass up lovely linens???? I have a swan planter that is very similar that I love!

I love your newest tea-time finds, Bernideen. Swans symbolize royalty, so here's to regal feelings with your new swan! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI never tire of admiring your lovelies Bernideen! I have been on a bit of a blogging break, but I hope I am back now. :) So happy to read through your blog and see what I've missed.
ReplyDeleteFunny you should ask ... I have been looking for small (demitasse-size) cups and saucers to hold miniature African violets. And I found two over the weekend while visiting my stepdaughter in Wisconsin. They were each about $2, and don't you just love it when the price is right like that? Love your new "Tuscan" collection, and the milk glass as well. A friend of mine collects milk glass and it makes such an elegant grouping!
ReplyDeleteYour teacup is lovely! The whole tea is so soft and pretty!
ReplyDeleteHello Bernideen, Wow, LOVE your finds - the teacup is marvelous! AND I just love hats! I appreciate you sharing your lovely finds with A Return to Loveliness,
ReplyDeleteKathy
