JOHNSON BROTHERS "DEVONSHIRE" TABLE

We are now in for our long winter season.  For many of you, your spring comes much earlier than here in Colorado.  It won't be long and the Valentines Day decorations will appear but I thought I would wait a little longer and set the table with my Johnson Brothers "Devonshire" multi brown transferware.

Speaking of brown, it is very brown now that our snow all melted. It was so cold last night, I walked in the door and lit a fire in the fireplace.  A fireside table would have been a cozy idea.

I am so excited because we spent hours and hours on computer problems and issues over the holidays.  We are finally straightened out and ready to enjoy blogging again. Having a printer that actually works like it is supposed to is also nice.  My goal this year is to be able to post much more often.  It's so much more fun when things work too! (many of you left comments here that you were glad my computer got fixed - it didn't - we had to get all new!)

I saw a teapot that matches this set of dishes on eBay for $400.00.  Needless to say, I won't be buying it and can get along fine with my little birdie plain white teapot.  You never know when you will stumble across something you are looking for!

"Welcome to a brand new year.
I hope that yours is very dear.
We'll be inside while winters here
With our stash of tea - close by and near".

  2. Hello Bernideen,
Your table setting is lovely and I like how you grouped your potted posies altogether for a centerpiece. I like your JB brown Devonshire china and of course the birdie teapot is a favourite. I have one too only in a different shape. Our snow is melting but there will be lots more before Spring arrives. Thank you for hosting and sharing at Tea Time. Enjoy your day.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  5. Hi Bernideen. So glad the computer problems seem to have ended. I love your Johnson Brothers set, and your table is lovely! It has been cold everywhere, but, as we seem to get the first of the weather here in the Pacific Northwest then it moves east, some sun and milder weather are coming your way. It's sunny! Woohoo! Have a lovely week and thanks for sharing your gorgeous photos and linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

  17. your table setting is very beautiful and i love the dishes. Your flowers look like a breath of spring. .I am afraid that winter is not over. We need rain so badly her in CA. We are on Fire Alert due to the high Santa Ana Winds - everything is so dry.

  22. Dear Bernideen,
you Johnsons bros. set is really outstanding beautiful. You are so talented in many skills, even in poetry. Such a sweet poem. What a pitty that you had to buy a new computer. It made me smile to read that you are thankful for a running system. I know exactly what you mean. I have often problems with the hardware. Your table looks beautiful. Must be a cozy feeling when outside it is sooo cold. Thank you for sharing this lovely tea time and for hosting this sweet event.
    Best greetings, Johanna

  23. Oh, Bernideen - I'm with you on the computer issues thing. That's how I spent last September - all new, too. And, a bit of a learning curve migrating to WordPress at the same time! Now - Johnson Brothers is much more delightful to talk about. Love them! This is a lovely pattern - similar to the Staffordshire that I have by them - in greens. Would love to collect more pieces. They are my treasure hunt when I'm thrifting and antiquing - always on the lookout for them. Blessings!
    Joy!

  28. This is really a beautiful set Bernideen! I haven't seen it before. Yes, $400 is a bit steep. I love the white birdie one. Could it be because I have one like it? lol! Yes, a dear friend gave it to me a few years back. the pitcher with the bird and roses really caught my eye. Love it! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
