CLARICE'S BUTTERMILK BISCUITS for "Tea In The Garden"

Last evening we had Buttermilk Biscuits with sausage gravy for supper.  Sometimes I say "dinner" and sometimes I say "supper".  Biscuits with gravy seems more like supper.  I thought you might enjoy one of the biscuits with fig preserves along with tea in the garden.

The recipe comes from the blog "Storybook Woodswhere Clarice Fox-Hughes shares wonderful recipes, craft ideas and a darling cottage style home!  I had originally found
this recipe in her book "Wren Bay" as she writes lovely fictional works about her character and includes many recipes, crafting ideas and homemaking suggestions.

I am sharing some red transferware.

I am also sharing the Mason's Vista red transferware teapot I got in Blackwater, Missouri on Monday.

How do you like my new antique
cake platter?  I got the teapot and cake stand
at a shop having a 1/2 off sale.

This week we have had lots of rain.  The creek
behind our house was running full of water.  The frogs croak so loud at night that it has taken some getting used to.  I caught one frog in the pond and threw him back in the creek because he croaked all night just outside the bedroom window.

  2. I agree, biscuits and gravy qualify as supper. It's funny, we say dinner when going out and supper at home. I am so glad you are enjoying exploring your new location.

  3. Your redware is wonderful. I have one piece, but would love to have more. Hate to start another "collection" but redware might be worth it. Glad to hear there are still frogs croaking after hearing there aren't any left.

  5. I don't know what happened, Bernideen, but my post linked up before I had a chance to choose my picture! Oh well!
Your red transferware makes my heart go pitter patter and I love both your teapot and your cake stand.
The frogs would definitely be annoying!!
Thanks for hosting and happy weekend to you.

  7. Oh who lovely is your new red transferware. I only have a few pieces, but I really love it.

One of my favorite meals is biscuits with sausage gravy. I could eat that once a day. Since I have to watch my carbs
I can't have it very often.

Your flowers and area where you have tea is simply stunning. Your new home is so very pretty.

    Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

  11. Oh I love books like that...I really must read this one that so many have mentioned in Blogdom. I can't imagine your picking up a frog and chucking him back where he belongs. The image made me grin.

  13. I love the teapot and cake stand Bernideen. I want a red transferware teapot also. I'd love to find one. There's a lot of garage sale at this time here. I am going early tomorrow morning.

  14. Hi Bernideen, your new teapot is wonderful! I had to laugh though, you said Sweetwater instead of Blackwater! lol Your frog story made me laugh too. Hopefully the creek didn't flood over into your beautiful flowerbeds and mess up anything.
    Talk to you soon,
    Gina

  16. What a lovely garden teatime, Bernideen!

It was perfect weather for outdoor teas for about 4 days - and I had company and couldn't swing it- then rained awfully, then hot hot melting awful heat.....today is very windy but has cooled a hair and a tick's worth....hoping some of that perfect weather hurries back. I need to have outdoor teatime again!

I have been baking but then never taking pics of all my baking - pies, cakes, tartes - all sorts of things. I sometimes wish time would slow down. You'd think it would being retired, ya know? : - )

    Hugs! ♥

  17. Bernideen,
    Gorgeous Teascape, dear one!
I've been looking for red transfereware in our local Antique Malls.
I'm finding "bits 'n pieces" of blue, but alas, no red.
    Thank you for sharing!
    fondly,

  19. I always enjoy seeing your red transferwares, Bernadette.

Perhaps the frog was croaking outside your bedroom window because it was looking for a kiss?!?
