SNUGGLING IN WITH AFTERNOON TEA

Like many of you we are having
another wave of freezing weather.

I really don't mind because there
are so many fun things to do at home.

So while the weather is cold I
found it a perfect time for
Afternoon Tea.  So last
night I baked an Apple Tart.

and the recipe is here.  I did
go ahead and put all the
apricot jam on in the
beginning.

Some chicken salad
sandwiches for the savory:

And the scones
different - I whipped the whites of 2 eggs
and added that to the scone batter as
an experiment.  I have been thinking
about trying the idea for quite a while.

Outside the birds are so hungry
 because
of the cold weather.

My newest April issue of Victoria arrived
and I am thrilled to see Ephemera
in the opening article.
I have taken an interest in the
art of paper crafting lately so I loved
the sweet paper shoes they showed and
the wonderful Easter eggs.

When I turned the page I gasped as I
saw the Devonshire Teapot.  I have
a large collection of this old 1940's pattern
by Johnson Brothers that I started collecting
years ago in Houston, Texas.  Later,  I found a
large group of them in Colorado Springs
but I do not have  the teapot and haven't
 been able to find one.

Hope your week is delightful!

  1. Enjoy your day, Bernideen! Warmer days ahead. Your tart sounds good. I made blueberry muffins and chocolate chai for my afternoon snack; grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch. We have been eating a lot of soup lately. :)

  6. What a lovely teatime! I'm loving the new Victoria too, especially those Easter eggs! I didn't know you had lived in Houston. I grew up in Houston in the 50's & 60's in the Westbury area. And then in the 70's, we lived in Spring.

  8. A lovely tea time! Tea always looks so inviting when we use a tiered cake stand with goodies arranged on it. I should make an apple tart one of these days. The apricot jam makes it look so good.
Most of us are experiencing cold weather right now. T'is the season for comfort food and lots of hot beverages.
We have hungry birdies at the feeder too these days. You have a lot of gold finches. We have only seen a few this winter. Our chickadees can clean out the feeder in less than a day. It's fun to watch them though and they keep me entertained.

  14. This is such a lovely tea time. You always make such scrumptious treats...I'd love a little of that tart with my tea. We still have six feet of so , so I guess we’ll be snuggling in for quite awhile yet.
