You and I can take a break from
all this work and have a lovely cup of hot tea!
Over the last year I have found a number of these old afghans at bargain prices and this one was calling my name. I cut some of the ones I found up to make tote bags for my shop but this one was a keeper.
I am sharing a Colough and a Sampson Smith cup and saucer from England and some little French plates with roses:
Definitely very colorful and fallish.
Oh the joys of leaf raking! We had a wind storm a week ago, and had lots to do. Lovely garden tea! Love the teacups and the afghan. Nice excuse for a cuppa! Thanks for hosting!

We haven't gotten the heavy loads of leaves yet, but it will come. I love the granny squares ... so colorful and great idea for a table cloth. Beautiful teacups and I love all the birds on the teapot and cream and sugar. Happy Tea Day!
ReplyDeleteLol! We must have been posting at the same time! Thanks for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

Ah, leaf raking! It's that time of year, isn't it? Your table setting in the garden is so charming. You know I found a teapot just like your birdie one and Hubby offered to buy it for me but I declined. He said, "You will be sorry you didn't get it." But I honestly think I have enough teapots already. Now that I see yours, he is most likely right! Thank you for sharing and hosting, Bernideen.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
I'm so glad the leaves are already raked and it's time for tea! How delightful! Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteWhew, mom glad we are taking a break from all that leaf raking, Bernideen. I so want to sit and enjoy a cup of tea with you. That granny square afghan as a topper is so stunning. I may have to make one like it. The black just makes the design stand out. Thank your lovely party and I'm so glad that it's still in the garden!
ReplyDeleteOops, I saw a spelling error, just as I was hitting "publish". I meant to say, "I'm " in the first sentence. This iPad has a mind of its own!!
ReplyDeleteYour teacup is pretty, and the afghan is a great table topper - pretty too! You had quite a few leaves, Bernideen. I think we are about done with those. Ron used the mulching mower to grind them up, then we placed them on some of our garden beds where they'll decompose and enrich the soil. Glad we're able to do this, so we don't have to send them out with the lawn waste - we are glad to have them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea, using old afghans as cheery tablecloths ! With the bright tablecloth and colorful leaves piled up your yard looks festive.
ReplyDeleteI love ( covet ) that teapot, and the teacup you featured is so pretty.
what a lovely back yard in which to have tea! the afghan is bright and colorful. I haven't looked yet, but I hope your store link is here. I want to explore it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful outdoor tea time, Bernideen!
ReplyDeleteMy oh my look at all those leaves!
Funny the kid in me instantly thought "DIVE!" when I saw that big pile. Of course at my age diving into them would probably result in a broken bone or two. Getting older isn't easy.
Thank you for a lovely teatime, and thank you for hosting. Hugs.
Love your fall tea, Bernideen! What a pretty tea break with your lovely tea ware and the brightly colored granny square table cover. Looks like you have most of your yard raked, good for you! Thanks for hosting and have a great week.

Oh Bernideen I love these afghans! My Grandmother had one on the couch and we would unfold it for naps in the afternoon. Nothing says home more than that! Great look for the tea table too. Thanks for hosting!

I wouldn't mind raking if I can be rewarded with this beautiful tea table afterwards, Bernideen. I have those white tea set and love them!...Christine
ReplyDeleteOK, I am SO going to use the Granny Square afghan I made as a tablecloth at Thanksgiving! Thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteHi: Your yard is amazing at any time of year. Love the afghan you shared today. Have a wonderful week. Blessings, Martha
ReplyDeleteHi Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteI love looking for afghans too and yours certainly is perfect for fall. What a pretty white tea set with birdies and lovely teacups too. The day looks sunny and bright and a nice day to be outside and making the best out of the raking - so much work! Thank you for hosting Tea Time today. Happy November! Karen
That's a mountain of leaves!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty scene in your garden today Bernideen.
I'm very taken with the pretty cup with the yellow, I haven't seen that pattern before.
Thank you for hosting your tea party today, I'm so happy to join you.
Shane
I would be happy to assist in raking your leaves if I could take a break and have a cup of tea with you in your garden.
ReplyDeleteThat is what we will doing today, raking, AND taking tea breaks!
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday! Thank you for hosting. Thankfully our big tress a cherry and a mulberry produce very very yummy leaves which the neighborhood groundhog comes and eats right up so we have very little raking the last few years - just the oak leaves which blow in for the neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteOh! I wanted to mention your granny square afghan had a supporting role in the movie -The Ghost and Mrs Muir - which I like to watch around Halloween. If you ever watch the movie you'll notice Loretta Young snuggling up with it when she naps before tea.
ReplyDeleteMy husband "seems" to enjoy leaf blowing in the fall so I "let" him. We have over 40 trees in our yard so they offer a LARGE supply of leaves.
ReplyDeleteMy mom loved to make granny square quilts and did many. Yours is VERY bright and cheerful.
Dear Bernideen,
ReplyDeletethat afghan has the right colors for autumn and Halloween. Nice background for the white and soft colored china. I love your garden in the fall time also. Thank you for sharing this wonderful tea time in sunshine. And for hosting this sweet event.
Best greetings, Johanna
So pretty! I love the colors in the crochet throw that you cleverly used as a tablecloth.
ReplyDeleteOur leaves are just about all off the trees and after a couple of hours of raking, a tea break is always welcome.
ReplyDeleteThe afghan is perfect for an autumn table covering and I am admiring the birdies on the teapots and creamer.
Thank you for hosting your tea gathering.
Lovely photos, and this is such a heartwarming post! I love tea. Your header is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I was able to take a break from the garden work with a lovely teacup shared with you!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful tea break :-)
