TEA IN THE GARDEN TIME

  This morning I looked
out and noticed it was
an overcast day.
What a perfect day for taking photos.
The Meadow Phlox (the tall lilac color flower in the back )is pretty right now
and is a Missouri wildflower.
 Coneflowers
are so prolific here.

I set a little tea table up in my
front yard.  I had some Lemon
Pound Cake (click for recipe)
for us to enjoy that
I had baked Tuesday night.

I hope your summer is going well.

For those of you that blog you will understand what I am about to say.
Blogger has really messed with the
headers and I have not succeeded at
getting mine back up.  I like to change
my header according to the seasons but
it isn't so easy to change the header anymore.

These cups and saucers are English
Royal Patrician.  They are some I use
down in my tearoom.

This is a late note from me:  I just told my husband I feel like a genius - everyone who know me knows that is an absolute joke!  I was able to finally follow the instructions on the link below and "somewhat" fix my header".  No, it isn't perfect but it is definitely bigger so I will leave this one alone for now!

scroll down and read the "HERE IS HOW I RESOLVED THE PROBLEM"by Cleo Coyle - she is the genius for sure!

BLOGGER HAS MESSED UP OUR HEADERS

The best advice I heard is don't change your header right now because blogger has fooled around with it and messed it up.  If you
change it - it will become really little
and if you follow the same instructions
I did after going to the help desk here - it will become blurry like mine above.

If you google this problem there are MANY
articles telling you how to fix your problem.
I was able to follow instructions and get
my header bigger (instead of really tiny and only to the
 left side of the page)
but I could not understand the instructions
well enough about it being blurry
and fix that.

Note from 11-2021  Suddenly
this problem was fixed by blogger!

LEARNING SOMETHING NEW OR SOMETHING YOU KNEW BUT FORGOT

When we lived in Colorado Springs and
I got a new camera, I figured out how to take
aperture photos.  You know the type of
photos where you zero in on something
but the background stays kind of blurry.

After we moved - I forgot what I had
learned so this week I looked at the manual
for dummies but I must be really dumb because
couldn't figure it out again.  This is what
I love about the internet - you can find
instructions that make sense - right?
 And by the
way guess what
 has returned:

I do not like these birds.  I am happy to see
springtime finally arriving in Missouri.

Twice I have taken the wreath off my
front door because the purple finches
try to build a nest on top of it.  Can someone
please explain to me why they call them
purple finches when the male is red?

So I love all the daffodils that are
blooming now and the tulips are
coming just behind them!  Last
year I planted those double tulip
bulbs but really I find they are
so heavy they fall to the ground
so no more of those in the future.

I decided to use an older floral
on the door instead.

Please stay safe and healthy during
this difficult time.

If you would like to practice
aperture photos:

This is for a D5100 Nikon:

Setting Up and Shooting in Aperture Priority Mode

  1. Turn your camera on and then turn the Mode dial to align the A with the indicator line.
  2. Select your ISO by pressing the i button on the back of the camera.
  3. Press up or down on the Multi-selector to highlight the ISO option, then select OK.
  4. Press down on the Multi-selector to select a higher ISO setting, then press OK to lock in the change.
  5. Point the camera at your subject and then activate the camera meter by depressing the shutter button halfway.
  6. View the exposure information in the bottom area of the viewfinder or by looking at the rear display panel.
  7. While the meter is activated, use your thumb to roll the Command dial left and right to see the changed exposure values. Roll the dial to the right for a smaller aperture (higher f-stop number) and to the left for a larger aperture (smaller f-stop number).

IN CELEBRATION OF WHEN THINGS "WORK"

I don't know about you but sometimes we
 can really jump
up and down and celebrate when
 things work "normal"!

The simple things of life are so taken for granted until
something goes kaputs!  Is there such a word?  I've heard
that all my life but had no idea how to spell it so
I just looked it up.

Anyway, when you move there is a lot of stuff to change
and several year back I renewed my domain name but
never looked at the file in a long time, never notified them
of changes, etc when I moved.  Needless to say, this
week I wasted volumes of time trying to get things
straightened out and am very happy that my blog
was back up after 48 hours of vanishing.

Shall we celebrate? With a cup of tea?  Absolutely!

I love it when things work!  Have a great day
and I hope you don't forget things like I do!
