RAINY DAYS TABLE SETTING TIME

We have been having some rainy
days and also flooding.  The Missouri
River is up really high.  It seemed
like this might be a perfect opportunity
to reset the dining room table with
my Old Country Roses dishes.

My husband and I went to a few
antique malls recently and I was
fortunate to be able to find another
etched water glass at a great sale
price to replace one that I had
knocked over.  I do break things
and I try to always take this in stride.
After all, it isn't life threatening and
I would rather use and enjoy my
pretties than hide them away.

I was so happy that our lawn mowing
was timed in between rains.  You know
that situation I am sure!

This was the replacement etched
water glass I was pleased
to find.  It is called "Meadow
Lark".

I love linens and fabric napkins.
When we lived in Colorado I found
this old compote here joined with
 some
extra napkins in it:

I hope your summer is going well.

OLD COUNTRY ROSES TABLE SETTING

 Sometimes the main benefit of
setting up a table setting is the
fact that it is the perfect opportunity
to wash them all (and these by
hand of course).

I had arranged this floral for one of
my "Tea In The Garden" posts but
when I realized the colors matched
my Old Country Roses china pattern,
I decided to do this table setting post
and include the arrangement.

I have done other posts on this
china pattern before.  Actually, I
acquired this set around the time of
our 40th anniversary which was about
15 years ago.  A lady came into my
shop trying to sell the set to earn
money to pay her utility bill. (It had belonged to her Mother In Law but  was not her taste) I sent her down the street
to another shop but when she came
back 2 hours later,  my husband
insisted
 we buy it.

Many consider Old Country Roses to
be the most beloved all time pattern.
My pieces are from England (except
the warmer) but starting around 2000
the pieces were outsourced to China and
Indonesia.  If you look for some - the English will always be more collectible.

RAINY DAY'S ARE WONDERFUL for "Tea In The Garden"

It was rainy yesterday and
 hopefully it
will continue for
the next few days!  Missouri
has been in a drought so I am
very happy about rain!

So,  down in the basement tea room
we go to enjoy a cup of tea this
morning.  You can pick your
own teapot too.

This year I realized that Zinnias
are the most heat tolerate flower
in the garden.

You probably already know this but
Old Country Roses has been referred
to as the most beloved pattern
 of
all time....

There was a short period of time
that they produced a chintz pattern.

I think OCR is especially lovely
at Christmas Time.

I hope you have had a good summer.
The children and teenagers returned to
 school here in Missouri yesterday.
I grew up in Virginia where we never went
back to school until after Labor Day.
Of course, we got out for summer break
much later though too!

OLD COUNTRY ROSES

Today I am enjoying a little
tea time by the fireplace and
some Sugar Cookies.  As
we approach Valentines Day,
I imagine there will be lots of
baking going on.

I decided to put out my "Old Country
Roses" china for a while to enjoy...

I enjoy the artist Nicole Sayre.
Though expensive, they sell very quickly.
I just enjoy seeing each creation.
 My Nicole dolls (angels)are just
 the mass manufactured
 and
cheaper ones.

I am sure you are familiar with Old
Country Roses.  I got my pieces about
ten years ago from a lady who didn't want
them.  My husband thought it would
be nice for our 40th Anniversary.
I love that they are the
"English" ones too.

I needed my Old Country Roses China since you were coming for tea!  Tis the season for Old Country Roses!
