LAST DAY OF MAY IN THE GARDEN

It's the last day of May in
the garden:

I can feel that the season is changing.

There is just a sense
that summer
is coming soon.  The peonies
have all finished so I am
excited to see the hydrangeas
starting to have buds.

My plan is the enjoy the summer!

I  have boldly declared my love for Queen
Anne's Lace - yes, right in the front yard.

And Hollyhocks are getting
tall at the mailbox.

How is your garden coming along?

Have a lovely weekend!

LATE MAY MAKES FOR AN ABUNDANT BOUQUET

I love it when there is an abundance in
the garden for a bouquet.

Soon the Japanese beetles arrive so
I am enjoying these roses:

I have been picking off the spent Canterbury
Bells to dry for seed.  I am drying all kinds
of seeds this year.

I hope you have a lovely weekend!

CELEBRATING QUEEN VICTORIA

Today was such a special day as
friend Janice and I were invited to a another
friend's home for a lovely luncheon to
celebrate the 200th birthday of Queen Victoria.
Here is our lovely hostess, Gina.

Gina's home was the perfect place
to attend a luncheon because most of her
home furnishings are authentic Victorian.
This means not just Victorian style but the
real thing.   The Victorian Era is Gina's
passion and working for an estate sale
business, she has accrued a lot of
knowledge about this style and is
 always learning more.  (She recently
acquired the mantle below which will
be attached to the wall soon.)

Janice and I dressed for "fun".  I take
terrible photos but am posting this
just the same:

Gina's is an amazing hostess
and it is a joy to visit her home.

Since today would be the 200th birthday
of Queen Victoria, there were special
decorations:

But Gina also has a gorgeous garden!
We both have had a delightful time
creating gardens about the same time.
She is striving for a Victorian style
garden too.

In the spirit of the day, I made a little
 bag for a small
gift for each of them :

A BOUQUET for "Tea In The Garden"

Yesterday was a cloudy day which I am
learning makes it easier for photos.
It actually rained after these photos
were taken and a lot of rain is expected this
week.  This has been a very rainy spring
in Missouri, but I just saw a friend's
photo of snow at her home today which is
just a few blocks from where we formerly lived
in Colorado Springs so - I shouldn't complain!

We are enjoying the peonies blooming
right now.  I made wire cages to go
around many, but not all of them and
the light pink ones seem to be drooping
the worse.

How are your garden plans coming along?  I
have pulled out some things in my garden
as this year is was overcrowded in places.
I had no problem finding different things
for a bouquet today.

I have really been enjoying
 looking out and
seeing my garden.

I hope you enjoyed our tea time in the garden!

The peonies are starting
to bloom.....

By next week I imagine the
rose arbor will be lovely.....

I love the pink colors arriving in the
garden now:

A sweet neighbor made me a new
birdhouse:
