MARTHA WASHINGTON for "Tea In The Garden"

With the 4th of July coming Sunday,
I wanted to set up a little tea time

I made a Lemon Pound Cake
(click for recipe)
yesterday so let's have a slice.

Today is a beautiful June day so we can
sit here under the deck and chat and have tea.
We will celebrate Independence Day
which was first celebrated July 4, 1776.
If you like, click on this link for a history lesson.

These are old Homer Laughlin
 pieces and English
Mason's Vista cups and saucers.

I dug out another area in my backyard
recently but it isn't very pretty yet as
I took plants from here and there that
aren't all that happy to be moved.  I am
glad I did it as it allowed me to
join Jeremy Fisher back with Miss Tabitha.

My garden is a bit of a
"Popsicle  stick garden" with sticks
marking seedlings everywhere!

I do hope your summer is going well!

  3. Those sticks marking your seedlings sure is a good idea. So easy to forget where everything is when one gets older! That cake seems like it's an even better idea! Yum.

  8. You sure are lucky to have the Martha Washington teapot! I started collecting the Homer Laughlin Currier & Ives red transferware a few years ago when I found quite a few pieces for a total of $15. I had planned to start collecting red transferware anyway. It sure made a pretty tea setting.

  13. Bernideen,
I haven't been blog jumping in a long time - so glad I chose today! I think, with the rabbit in the header, the Homer Laughlin china, popsicle sticks and outdoor tea set up - that this is one of my favorite posts of yours. I will have to find time to scroll and look at all the posts I have missed! Thank you for this beautiful spot - and enjoy the summer heat!
PS - wish I could taste that pound cake!! I make lemon ones too once and awhile!

  14. Bernideen, since my new post is Homemade Blueberry Syrup or Sauce, nothing to do with tea time, I brought an older post to the party. Even when I don't put up a link, I always come to the party so I can visit with you and all my other tea ladies! Love that tea set! AND Jeremy and Tabitha and all the rest of your gorgeous garden.
