BLUEBIRDS AND AUGUST FLOWERS

We have had a hot and very dry summer.
As I was watering my backyard today
I suddenly noticed about a dozen
bluebirds show up taking turns in
the birdbath.

It is about 91 degrees out and we are
told rain is coming our way  later
today, which
would be wonderful.

I am happy to see the
bittersweet getting
ready for fall.

The bluebirds never go to the
birdfeeders and are very
timid.

With August coming to a close, we
look forward to cooler weather
and fall baking.

PURPLES IN THE HOT JULY GARDEN

Well, here we are in Missouri in very hot
July with temps today close to 100 degrees.
I think I'll stay inside but I did run out
and take a few photos of the garden
 this morning:

 Yes, purple seems to be
 in charge
of color right now.

I have allowed some Queen Anne's
Lace in my garden in one area
so that I have
it for bouquets.

I hope you are staying cool.

OUT AND ABOUT IN THE JUNE GARDEN

This week I did a lot of thinning of things out in the garden.  I also made some discoveries that I had some  hydrangea bushes from a
few years ago that I rooted from leaves (I watched a YouTube video) and then dug the little bushes up and moved them to get just a little more sun.

This type of hydrangea hates the summer heat here and is only blooming because for the most part, it hasn't been that hot.  Unfortunately, next week it is supposed to go into the 90's so things will be changing.

The Hollyhocks are just starting to bloom.

The garden is transcending from spring
to summer now and although very
green.....not so many flowers yet.

OUT IN THE GARDEN

I took a few photos of my garden
after my tea was over yesterday.

Our weather went from cooler to
over 90 degrees three days in
a row.

We have lots of birds in
our birdhouses this year.

Hope you have a lovely week.

LAST DAY OF APRIL IN THE GARDEN

After several days of rain the garden
is looking happy today.  Time is moving
on and now we have the appearance of
upcoming irises, more lilacs and
the promise of coming peonies.

The tulips are sadly almost all gone
but there are still some of the later
arrivals.  I am just happy to see
green everywhere.

I have to look up the name of
this little wildflower I planted
many years ago as I always
forget it's name.  I am so
happy to see some Iris's
beginning to bud.

We have some wonderful sounds in the
back yard with birds coming and going.
The hummingbird feeder is ready for
when they arrive.  We have enjoyed some
bluebirds this year around our yard.

This is looking down
from our deck:

After all my photo taking I
made a bouquet out of
some of the flowers
I cut:

IT'S COLD IN THE GARDEN

I actually feel sorry for the bulbs
blooming right now as it is cold
out in the garden.  I do believe things
are behind this year from when we
had warmer weather in past years.

You can see even the rose bush below
is starting to leaf out.

Are you tired of being cold?  We
are and we complain about it constantly.
Haha.  I know that everything is relative
and I better be quiet because some of you
still have snow on the ground.
