BLUEBIRDS AND AUGUST FLOWERS

We have had a hot and very dry summer.
As I was watering my backyard today
I suddenly noticed about a dozen
bluebirds show up taking turns in
the birdbath.

It is about 91 degrees out and we are
told rain is coming our way  later
today, which
would be wonderful.

I am happy to see the
bittersweet getting
ready for fall.

The bluebirds never go to the
birdfeeders and are very
timid.

With August coming to a close, we
look forward to cooler weather
and fall baking.

  1. I so enjoy seeing your garden with all the colorful plants and ornaments. I have only seen two Bluebirds this Summer, and none lately, they are the sweetest little birds.. Rain is falling here, a welcome relief.

  2. Such a lovely lovely garden! I am happy to see the bluebirds! We have them here in the spring, building their nests in the birdhouses and raising their babies. They are fun to watch, and you are right, they never go to the birdfeeders, but they do appreciate the bird bath! They are gone now, but will come back in the spring I hope. You have such a beautiful garden! I wish I could grow such lovely flowers here, but I just don't seem to have the green thumb for it and it is just too hot and humid too stay outdoors for long in the summer. We are really looking forward to fall as that is when we can be outside again! Thank you for sharing your lovely gardens with us. This was delightful.

  3. Our one pair of blue birds are feeding their 3rd successful nest of babies in the box on our front tree, as I write this. They should be out this weekend. Here, I feed them dry meal worms on the ground and they also eat a few shelled peanuts I keep in a feeder for the woodpeckers year round. Your flowers are always a pleasure to see and I hope you got good rain, but not severe weather. Our summer has had enough rain to keep things going well up here.
