PUMPKIN PIE AND CALICO

Today was such a busy day but late in
the afternoon my thoughts turned
toward baking a pumpkin pie.

I found a moment to just enjoy a cup of hot
tea and eat some yummy pie.  It was
pouring buckets of rain outside so this
was the perfect time for hot tea.

We had to drive to Kansas City this morning
and noticed the first indication of
 the leaves
beginning to turn.

With tremendous rain today,  I
expect we will see some flooding
from the Missouri River.

I never get everything done - do you?
I so wanted to make some Strawberry
Preserves this summer but that didn't
happen.

Yesterday we pruned many things in our
yard but not everything got done.

The book I'm showing here is:
Tasha Tudor's Garden.

We gathered a small harvest
of some tomatoes that were
ready to be picked.  They
sure tasted better than the ones
from the market!

  1. Our tomatoes didn't do well because I had hoped the the monsoon rains we had would do in between waterings but no such luck. My sweet mint is thriving though. Maybe I will make mint jelly or dry mint leaves for tea. Your pie looks so good, now I want pie!

  2. What is that book in the background? It looks like one I would love to read on a rainy day!

  3. What a lovely rainy day post. I can almost smell the pumpkin pie, which is our favorite for fall. We are beginning to see a bit of fall color here, as well.

  4. Every year I plan to plant tomatoes and it never gets done. I so love fresh tomatoes from the garden! I love your brown transferware! It's perfect for October. Pumpkin pie was on the menu this week because it was Thanksgiving on Monday. I will likely make one more before Christmas. Our leaves are quickly changing here because the weather has gotten very cool. This week is a rainy one so I like just being inside my warm house, enjoying pie and tea or coffee. A charming post as always, Bernideen!

  5. Now you've got me thinking about pumpkin pie! I love your brown calico pieces. I have one piece of calico and that is a blue & white cow creamer.

  6. I just love your calico pieces, Bernideen. I only have the teacup, but I so enjoy using it. Your pie looks so tasty, and Oh how I'd love a slice right now. We had so much rain, too, but today it's sunny, but cool. Maybe Fall has finally arrived in Texas!

  8. Such lovely dishes. The teaspoon's position in the teacup makes it look like it's coming out of the teapot--like silver tea pouring out!

  13. Daily it never seems I get things done...it's only when I look back over a week's period that it seems to add up. Your pie inspires me to make a lemon pie. Today!
