I have a collection of lace collars - all are very old....
I wonder who wore them - who was the lady who embellished her blouse or dress? and who mastered this art of crochet and delicate lace work....

ReplyDeleteWhat do you do with them? Do you display them somehow or actually use them yourself?

How pretty they all are. You have a beautiful collection! I have a few collars also. Every once in a while I take them out and wonder at their past. How fun!

What a nice collection...
ReplyDeleteHi Bernideen --
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful collars!! I can smell the fresh air right now! You take such fantastic photos. What type of camera do you have? I have put some of my lace collars on my dress forms in my sewing room, and I have used them in some of my crafts or teacup wreaths. I am working on some Christmas crafts now. Wouldn't one look pretty in a frame with some lovely paper in the background with a vintage image in the middle, embellished with some vintage jewelry? I really have to get going on my projects. By the way, I have emailed all of my lovely lady friends that make the rounds of tea houses with me, and I gave them the address of your blog, so don't be surprised if you get some more followers/comments. Don't rule out the possibility that we girls might make a road trip to Colorado for one of your tea parties one of these years. A few years ago we went to Prince Edward Island for a week for a lovely tea vacation. Be Well and Happy. Robin from Robin's Nest Treasures.

Such beauitful pieces! Can you imagine the time and talent it must have taken to make these intricate pieces of art? Your laundry day makes me want to set up a beautiful display like yours. I LOVE what you used for a "clothes line". So clever!!

Hello!! I was privy to a private collection viewing of antique clothing here in Montreal QC recently. Was very teary... WHY must the lace last (although deteriorating) and the sweet, unknown ladies disappear?...
ReplyDeleteWarm greetings from a 1st-time reader who just lost her mother and is enjoying the charm of your blog...

I don't think I've ever seen so many beautfiful pieces of needlework in one place. What a wonderful collection you have.

Just beautiful! I don't believe I ran into any collars on my many antique outings. I guess this will add just one more thing to my ever growing list of wants. My laundry line never looked so sweet and romantic. I think I am going to have to add a great bench to sit my laundry basket on. LOVE it and all your posts.
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous post. I have a few lace collars as well. They are just so dainty. Connie
ReplyDeleteOooh so detachable lace collars Is not a new fad? I had no idea. It's now reallly trendy to have detachable collars in Japan and blogshops are starting to sell them too! Love your blog! Hope to have a garden like yours in the future!
