WHEN VIOLETS BLOOM

Years ago, when we lived in Spring, Texas I especially loved February.  Would you believe that winter was over in February and the smell in the air - I will never forget. It was like the Secret Garden....spring had arrived and that meant violets were blooming.

Here in Colorado winter hasn't even really begun yet in February. But that's o.k. because we can "pretend".  Thank God for an imagination! I don't think violets bloom here in Colorado until May.

I have arranged a little table by the window for us today as we "imagine" spring in all its glory. I also have something special since Valentine's Day is just around the corner!  Fudge - yes and the recipe too!  This is so easy and tastes like really expensive chocolate shop type fudge!

Valentines Day Fudge

1 can 14 oz condensed milk
1 pkg 12 oz semisweet chocolate chips
1 Tsp vanilla
1 ½ cups chopped walnuts as desired

Butter a square 8 x 8 x 2 pan. Heat milk, chocolate chips, in 2 quart sauce pan over low heat.  Stir constantly till all melted and mix is smooth, remove from heat and stir in vanilla and nuts.  Spread quickly in pan and refrigerate until firm.  At least 1 hour. Cut into 1 ¼” squares - makes about 3 dozen.

Tea and fudge- what could be better,
so pour yourself a cup of Paris Tea and relax.

  1. Your table covering is ROMANTIC! Love the coordination of lavender with your violets. The violet plates and the little butterflies are beautiful, Bernideen. Fudge sounds good! I cannot remember when I last ate fudge. I don't make it often because when it's in the house, I can't leave it alone! lol I really enjoyed your post with your lovely china and chocolate? coffee? pot. Hugs, Beth

  3. I love violets and purple being the color of February's birthstone, Amethyst,I know my mother would have loved this tea setting. It's one of the flowers I included in my first launch of 3-dimensional flowers because, in the language of flowers, it means "Moderate worth." XOXO

  19. Bernideen, I adore Violets! I had lots at my previous home. They always bloomed in March and were such a warm welcome. My youngest son bought our home so I still get to enjoy them when I visit. My friend brought that fudge to a stitching group that I hold at my home around Christmas. It was a big hit.

  21. I just love your violet table. Violets are definitely a weakness for me. My violets should show up in March. Crocus are beginning to bloom and then the daffodils about the first of March, then tulips and violets.

  22. Hi Bernideen,
thank you for the hint, that you changed the day for your tea event. I will for sure join in, as it is one of the loveliest tea events. When I look at your violet table, I can easy imagine spring. Yes, I can even smell the sweet scent of violets in my imagination. What wonderful items you have to that theme. And the fudge sound so tempting. That looks easy to produce and mak a great gift and delish. Thank you for sharing tea and treats.
    Best greetings, Johanna

  29. Hi Bernadeen! I'm admiring of your beautiful violet table. That wonderful embroidered linen with the applique really caught my eye! I just adore pieces like that. We have had very spring-like weather. I love it! But it gets cold again in a few days. But it can be spring anytime on the blog! So nice that you stopped by!

  31. I love your violet set. I only have a violet teapot, but it's on the ma,tel for Valentine as well. We do have violets as early as February in Brittany, but not this year as it's unusually cold (still, it's cold compared to where you live!).
