This fall I wondered how our new shabby chic painted items would blend with the colors of fall and some colorful past fall decor. I decided to tone things down a bit and got rid of some orange items. I spray painted some things white too!
Since last year, I found a few more Johnson Brother's plates in the pattern "Windsor Ware" now bringing my total to ten. I love that it has a pink rose on it too - must have been a PRE-shabby chic thought! We still haven't gotten the dining room table painted though.
A little window setting for fall:
If I were planning to live here indefinitely - this mantle and brick would be so vintage white - but we will be retiring in Missouri near our son and daughter in law and 2 grandkids so we are leaving it as is! The same for our kitchen cabinets - we are leaving them in there oak finish. Hubby recently restained them all.
Our nights are already so much cooler - I hope we have a long fall and don't just leap head first into winter here! Have you started decorating for fall yet?
What an excellent post! I love fall but am not just wild about the orange/brown colors and, like you, prefer to "soften" the color palette. You have given some great ideas here on how to do just that. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi Bernideen, Your whites are gorgeous, Bernideen. Your home is beautifully decorated. I wanted to paint my breakfast table white, but the hubby said no! However, we do have all white woodwork, white mantle, white marble fireplace and hearth. Those whites look stunning with colored walls (my living room is a gorgeous blue). I tried to grow bittersweet in the fencerow but "somebody" thought it was a weed and got rid of it. :(
ReplyDeleteI haven't begun decorating for fall yet. It's still summer here - still in the 90s and so very dry. Looking forward to fall.
Have a blessed wknd, Beth
Hi Bernideen
ReplyDeleteI like the autumn vignettes you've created and must say I'm not a fan of orange myself. My decor has already been put out a couple of days ago.

It's still so hot here out on the plains that I haven't felt any of the cooler temperatures that signal fall to me. However, harvest has started right next door to me! Your fall displays might get me thinking about it as they are just the right thing to give me a push!♥♫
ReplyDeleteOh my Marilyn:
DeleteHopefully cooler nights are coming soon! Now, every time it rains here, they get all upset about flood possibilities!
I love your post - everything looks wonderful. Also love the garden with all the pretty fall decorations. I wish we were having cooler nights - no such luck here. It's in the three digit's and no relief in sight.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Mary
Everything looks so clean and fresh and your fall decorations are nice. I have not started decorating for fall yet. Nancy
ReplyDeleteHi Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteYour softer Autumn palette looks wonderful. I love the white! I am not a lover of orange at all and I always try to incorporate as much cream and gold into my decor as possible for the coming months. And no, I'm hanging on to Summer right now so, no Autmun decor just yet. Thank you for sharing your pretty vignettes at my HOME.
Blessings,
Sandi
Hi Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteI love your fall décor! It looks great with your beautiful shabby chic! I am so pleased to hear that you are retiring. Since I retired in June I have found that I am still very busy without working but I am especially enjoying the fact that I don't have to rush out the door every morning. Will you be selling your shop? Have a nice weekend! Take care,
Karen
Hi Karen:
ReplyDeleteOur building is for sale - it could take quite a while here - don't know. The business is not for sale.
I love your fall accents in your house. It looks really nice with all the white actually. I just began changing the china in my hutch, but with the school work, I just haven't find time yet to decorate!
ReplyDeleteI am new to your blog, Love the set up of the rooms, some duck egg blues and farrow and ball Chappell Green. Oh and I love your owl :)
