Except for a day or two here and there, we really haven't had spring weather. I'm wondering if at some point it will just suddenly become summertime. My winter coat is still out and ready to wear. I am looking forward to seeing some of your teas in the garden today. This morning I reflected on the book "Tasha Tudor's Garden" which we love! I'm not so sure if it is still in print but I'm sure you could find a used copy somewhere.
speak Japanese right?

I have shared that this summer after 28 years, my shop will be closing. We are in the process of having a GOOB Sale (Going Out Of Business). Things are going well and we are pleased. Some ladies are coming in crying......yes actually crying and there are many sweet comments.
I have little girls that come to my store every week just to play at the play table. Sometimes the grandparents who are babysitting them bring them in. I will miss them. Others are all grown up now as I have had a play table for the last 17 years. They come in and point to the table and share their story with me of how they used to play there. Most call me "Miss Bernideen".
If you watch this video of Tasha Tudor you will be inspired. I think maybe this week our cold weather will disappear and I shall be able to get out in the garden. Great fun!
May you have some beautiful spring days before the heat of summer. It was a crazy winter and then this crazy spring...hope that the remainder of the year is more recognizable. It must be bittersweet to have your GOOB sale. Many blessings.
ReplyDeleteI first became aware of Tasha Tudor from the old Victoria magazines and she would be how I'd describe Mother Nature to look. Her gentle ways and love for plants and living creatures touched my heart.
ReplyDeleteGuess you didn't know you'd make grown women cry with the closing of your store but I'm sure with your personality and all the events over the years, you're going to leave quite a legacy behind Miss Bernideen.
We've had a break in the rain and I went out to plant my veggies in the garden and pots. We had to wait for the last frost and it was there on the weekend.
Happy tea day Bernideen.
Closing your store must be bittersweet for you, Bernideen. Lots of memories and watching little ones grow up. I am also sure that you are looking forward to relaxing more and having your free time. Will you stay in Colorado?
ReplyDeleteTasha Tudor's garden is simply charming and it is lovely how she wrote about her life and shared it with the world. As always, your china is wonderful. Thanks for joining me for tea and have a lovely day.
Blessings,
Sandi
I adore Tasha Tudor and her garden is amazing! It's open you know, a few weeks of the year -- and the tickets are "big bucks" but people flock to it! They sell out quickly! She was a dedicated gardener and a great artist and she is one of the reasons I have a corgi!
ReplyDeleteLove your post -- love the strawberries!
We got tickets to tour Tasha Tudor's home! Can't wait! I'm glad you included the video--just a little taste of what we're going to see.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous legacy you have there! I know you will be greatly missed. Praying for your GOOB etc to go smoothly and successfully. I love Tasha Tudor...what a wonderful woman and chronicler of the simple and beautiful life. So glad you won't be leaving blogging as well. Thanks for hosting and linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

Hi Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteI do hope that your weather improves in Colorado. It does cheer my mood to have some sunshine and heat. Closing your business must be bittersweet but I do believe you will be happy with retirement. Your gold teacup is so lovely today as are your other china pieces. I am looking forward to your Teas in the Garden too. Happy Belated Memorial Day and Tea Day! Thank you for hosting each week! Blessings, Karen

ReplyDeleteI'm sure the ladies who shop your store are crying, Bernideen! You will be missed by them and the sweet children.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to sit and look at your book with you and have a cup of tea. We've had so much rain that I haven't been having tea in the garden, either. Thank you for hosting and best of luck with your GOOB sale.

Hi Bernideen! Wow, your winter is stubborn! I really enjoyed your post today--sorry to hear that you will be closing, but retirement is just around the corner! I haven't heard of Tasha Tudor before, thanks for sharing your pretty book with us.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful tea cups you have shared with us this week. Blessings, Martha
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post and I am so sorry that you are closing your shop. How wonderful that they come in for play tea.
ReplyDeleteI love that book also and every once in awhile I take it out and read it all over again.
Many thanks for sharing and have a wonderful week.
Mary
Hi Bernideen, so sad to hear about your shop closing down. I can understand how your longtime customers and friends feel. But they have some good memories to remember of the shop and a beautiful friendship developed.
ReplyDeleteI hope I can link in for this week's tea party. Enjoy your week.
Hugs,
Aida
What a delightful post! Just love Tasha Tudor and her books were such a big part of my childhood- So sorry to hear your shop is closing after so many happy years but I'm sure new adventures await! :)
ReplyDeleteI have that very same book. I just love Tasha Tudor.
ReplyDeleteI do love this book and have treasured it for a long time. She was my garden inspiration. Good luck with the closure of your shop.
ReplyDeleteI remember fondly all those sweet articles about Tasha Tudor in Victoria magazine. In later years, when the magazine started holding events in New York and around the country, I seem to recall one with her. Wish I could have gone! Love that people are remembering your store so fondly, and I'm also pleased to hear that you have been known as "Miss" Bernideen, as I thought that was just a southern thing!
ReplyDeleteYou are my inspiration! I'm having a "church lady" tea next week and I'm so looking forward
ReplyDeleteto it. I have a small cottage so I had to downsize a lot but I still have lots of my tea and
coffee things to use and make a pretty, happy table. Yours is one of my favorite blogs.
Happy Day, Julia
I discovered Tasha Tudor through your blog and I do love her! I know it is sad for a lot of people that you are closing your shop! I am sure it has made a lot of wonderful memories!
ReplyDeleteBernideen, my link today is to a peach pie that actually works for the tea table because it is only an inch thick and can be cut into little squares and put in paper frills (or whatever they're called). I would be one of those crying (over your closing) ladies if I lived in your area!
ReplyDeleteHI! I have always loved your tea blog and have found great inspiration here. I am sorry to hear that your shop is closing but 28 years is an INCREDIBLE legacy!!! Wow!! To give the gift of tea time and those special memories with so many is quite a gift. The very first place I took my newborn daughter (2 weeks old) out of the house was a tea room. I will never forget that and I have continued to try to share the joy of tea time with her the past 11 years. Here is to joy and fun on your next adventure!!! ~ Trish
ReplyDeleteBernideen,
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting such a lovely blog. I enjoyed being reminded of Tasha Tudor. I haven't seen that book in a while.
Thanks again,
Jamie
What a special post about Tasha Tudor. The strawberries look like we could reach out and take one! And the vignettes of china and quilts are lovely.
