GOODBYE COLORADO

After weeks of boxing and packing and boxing and packing,
Thursday we moved out of Colorado where we have
lived for 22 years.  Yes, we have finally moved to
Missouri to be near our son and family.

I always remember the line used in the "Miss Potter" movie where she says to her Mother...."at my age......"  I have to tell you it was  so much easier to move when we were "at the age" of 30-40 years old!  We hurt all over this time.
My hubby will definitely need a break
now from the heavy duty stuff.

This photo was of the first truck being loaded
back on January 25th in Colorado.
We decided early on to break our
move into two separate truck loads at
different times and in between working on having
  carpeting, granite kitchen counters, sink,
new windows, etc installed in the Colorado home.
Then my husband
spent weeks painting and restaining the woodwork
and doing various repairs on this house to get
it move in ready and up for sale. Both of
those 2 cars were trade in and I'm not driving
the truck (of course) but get to drive the new car.

I am so excited to see in this photo below that I can share
something other than a moving truck and share something vintage. You see this real Victorian mantle below in the Colorado garage. (below photo with table leaning against it) I saved this mantle after having it at my shop for many years.   It is very Victorian and made from cypress and came out of an old mansion in New Orleans before the hurricane named Katrina.

I am doing this post really early because by the time you see this post the computer won't be hooked up and we probably don't have internet service yet.   I can't take a photo of truck #2 because it's too late so just imagine
another 26 foot truck is gone!
This should help - ha!

And with that I say "Goodbye Colorado"!   I hope to be sharing
much about our new home and what Missouri has to offer
in the days ahead!  I have work to do as I need to create a
new garden for my "Tea In The Garden" link party soon!

I hope to see you Monday for Bernideen's
 Tea Time,
 Cottage and Garden Blog Party!

  1. Dear Bernideen, congratulations to your move! I hope a wonderful life is awaiting you and your husband in Missouri. I am not familiar with this state at all and hope to get to know it a little better through your blog. Thank you very much again for keeping your blog and Bernideen's Tea Time, Cottage and Garden Blog Party going throughout your move!
But now I hope you and your husband get to rest somewhat, you both certainly deserve it! Oh, and I hope that starting a new garden in Missouri will be quite fun for you!
    Warm regards,
    Christina

  2. I am both sad for you and happy for you all at the same time!!! It's so hard to leave a home you've loved for so long, and made so many memories in. But on the other hand you are moving towards your future and a new home to love and make your own - exciting times! And a lot of hard work, for sure...I don't envy you that. I am in my home just under a year now and I finally feel 'settled' after moving 4 times in 5 years. I HATE moving!! :) Best of luck to you in your new home...and new state! xoxo

We did some missionary training - linguistics - in Missouri in 1991. Our daughter was born there in Camdenton in January of 1992. My husband's sister lives in Springfield. Missouri is a beautiful place, and I know you'll love being close to family!

  22. There is something so exciting about moving. Yes, at an older age it is sooooo hard on our bodies, but still I love the adventure. Good luck resettling! Can't wait to see the new place.

  23. Big changes - what fun you will have. We moved to WA from California 15 years ago to be closer to our daughters and their families - and so glad we did. It took us some time to settle in - but we are established now and love it. I'm glad we did it back then - I'll be 70 in a week and there is no way I would do another move now - seems we were just young kids then compared to now LOL. Enjoy your new home - and can't wait to see how you fancy it up and what your new garden will look like.

  24. 'Tis always sad to leave a house where you have lived for so long, but your new home will be an exciting adventure. An adventure where you will have fun placing all those vintage pretties. And....how wonderful you are now close to your family. I must say I LOVE that mantle.
