A PRELUDE TO SPRING DAY

Yesterday was a lovely day -
nice and warm at 70 degrees!
We best not expect it to last though!
Last night it was as if the sky was falling
with hail everywhere in the middle of the night.

I set a little tea table down in
the tea room.  We are having some
cranberry
 and raisin oatmeal cookies
 baked this afternoon.  If you
want the recipe follow the link.
  Just add
1 cup of craisins too!

Yesterday I was down in my sewing room
ironing cloth napkins and vintage linens
 that have accumulated in the
 ironing basket this winter.
 Do you still iron?

I haven't done any "spring
 cleaning" but I need too!
Just not today!

Please pick your cup and pour
 yourself some tea!

I have my first 5 flats planted with
seeds.  I have everything to do 10
more flats.  Now that I am retired this
 is the way to go!

I hope your week is going well!

  1. As always Bernadeen, you make me wish for an invite to sit down and share a cup with you. I love to iron but need to buy a new ironing board. I think there's nothing better than fresh, newly ironed pillowcases.

  2. Oh yes I still iron, besides some cotton blouses I iron my vintage linens, which makes me think I need to laundry some and iron again since they haven't been used for couple years.
As always your sweet tea table is charming and I want some of those cookies now with my tea.
I haven't gotten my seed trays planted yet

  4. What a beautiful collection of linens you have, Bernideen. Your china is lovely too and your cookies sound wonderful.
That hail you had last night was probably from the remnants of tornado activity. I heard there was bad weather in parts of both MO and IL. We have a weather man in the family who really keeps a close eye on the weather. Sounds very spring-like where you live. The snow is melting here but we're sure to get more yet. Counting down the days!

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  6. What a lovely tea to welcome March! I need to do some spring cleaning too. For Lent this year, I may try the challenge of "Get rid of 40 things in 40 days." Thank you for hosting and have a great week, Bernideen! Now I'm off to find item #1 for today...

  7. I love ironing tablecloths and napkins and pillowcases. Some people think I am crazy, but they are so beautiful when freshly ironed. That teacup with the blue is gorgeous. Even though I don't buy teacups usually, I would buy that one.

  8. What are you growing in your flats? Annuals? Herbs? I wish that I had a good window for attempting this myself. I did check out the cookies...they sound yummy. If I had any energy, I'd make some right now. I heard about that nasty weather. You all be alert down there...
Oh, I like to iron my linens and mine have been collecting for a while as well.

  11. Dear Bernideen, you have been very busy. We have been fighting 'fires' here, and can't wait until the messes subside. Thank-you for hosting, this is still my favorite read. Sandi

  13. Bernideen, I love your napkin collection! Now, that is something I'm willing to iron! But clothes that need ironing, nice blouses, husband's dress shirts, that stuff goes to the cleaners. The plate my cake slice is on is part of a trio. I have it in yellow as well. And this cake goes so well with a nice cup of black tea!
