Last Monday was the first official
day
day
of spring and we'll take it!
Here in Columbia, Missouri, the Bradford
Pears bloomed about a week earlier than
last year! They were beautiful all over
town about 2 weeks ago -
it's just to bad the tree bares no pears.
These Forget Me Nots will be blooming soon:

Forsythia was another one
that that I have seen that came early.
Ours was quite modest because
we gave it a severe haircut last year.
We have so many birds here now that
the backyard sounds like a birdfest!
I keep the feeders full to make
them happy. Last Friday was the
first time I saw the bunnies on
the ground beneath the feeder
eating what the birds spill.
Mr. Rabbit is already eating
things
in the yard - NOT good.
Missouri had a very mild winter and
at least one lady told me the bugs will
be bad because of that.
We have had about 3 days of rain -
yes - rain. I know too much isn't good
and some are experiencing that but
we needed it.

Yes, I had bulb blooming in February! February! We're a bit further south than you. Lovely pictures of your garden. And yes, those rabbits can be pesky!
ReplyDeleteHi Bernideen, you got some great shots of that pesky rabbit! :) I always shoo them away! Wow, you have lots of forget me nots, I planted some inside and they are not very big yet so not ready for the garden yet. The branch looks neat out back of your house beyond the fence, all full of water.
ReplyDeleteSee you soon,
Gina
Your yard is a rabbit's dream. I know that you'll have some ideas to deal with those little critters. I saw some gizmo for bug control on QVC last week and was highly tempted until I realized that I would have to empty them of the remains. Ugh. I gave my forsythia bushes a serious pruning two years ago and am hoping for something good to happen this year. Very little happened last year.
ReplyDeleteOh how I miss my gardens! We have to work on the landscaping here at the new house. All we have now is a muddy mess! Thanks for sharing your gardens just awakening. Your little visitor is a cutie.
ReplyDeleteWe trimmed our lilac way back a few years ago. This year it started to bud early and was full of flower buds! I was dreaming of lilacs scenting my home, when we got another cold snap and they all are dead. Boo!
ReplyDeleteRabbits are cute by they can ruin a garden.
I'm living vicariously through your garden until we warm up!
I'm going to have to live vicariously through you, Bernideen! No sign of green here yet, there's still way too much snow everywhere, sigh! Love Mr Bunny, hope he doesn't do too much damage to your gardens.
ReplyDeleteOur forsythia is finally glowing. We have wild bunnies, too, and they do enjoy certain flowers to eat. Hope the bugs aren't too bad this summer!
ReplyDeleteI see all the gorgeous posts of down south---and I have one lone daffodil that has attempted to bloom, but keeps itself wrapped so tight---it's hard to tell what it will be.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the precipitation...without the huge normal snowfalls this year, we need any rain we can get. Can't wait to see your yard come alive, Sandi
You must be in a zone warmer than us ...we're just started to green up and I spotted my first tiny bloom on a Pulmonaria which makes enforces Spring is coming.....
ReplyDeleteI'm sending my welcome to your Spring and to Mr.Rabbit, he looks so wonderful in your flower bed, I think that also that baby rabbit who came and visit you enjoyed it such a lot !
ReplyDeleteWishing you a most glorious Sunday,
sending blessings of joy to you and yours
XOXO Dany
