I imagine that many of you are like me and
change recipes after baking something
quite a few times!
I have baked these scones many times and shared them on this blog and always seem
to change something. I purchased the
little American Beauty cream and sugar below from another blogger.

This time when I baked these scones

I used buttermilk instead of heavy cream
and I added 1/4 cup of lemon juice
in them along with the lemon zest.
I also recently found this little
hand painted tray above!
I put some strawberry
jam on your scone for you:
Things are starting to pop up here
in our Missouri yard - I know that
it's going to be a fun year in the garden.
Last year the "foundation" was dug out
but this year I can move on to the plants so
I have 20 flats of seeds growing in the
basement now...... and so much to learn!!!!

ReplyDeleteHi Bernideen. The scones look delicious and the little cream and sugar are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'm anxious to see your garden developing this year. We still have snow in Eastern Canada.
I am vacationing in Vancouver with my son's family so I won't be blogging for a while. Take care xo
I see all that green beyond your window...looking nice and springy! Wow. I am impressed by all your
ReplyDeleteseedlings in the basement.
Bernideen, your tea table is a delight with the beautiful cups and scones and daffodils! How I would love a scone right now! No treats for me and none for a while, I guess. I will have to throw a party once I am able to savour a treat like a scone again. Your garden will be magnificent this year! I look forward to seeing it through your photos. Thank you for the party and Happy Spring! We will have spring one of these days. We're expecting a raging blizzard tonight and tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi

ReplyDeleteThank you for hostessing such a pretty Springtime tea, Bernideen. I'd love a lemon scone, and yes please, strawberry jam on top is perfect for me. I so love your tiered stand that your sweetie made and your new cream and sugar looks perfect with it. I've brought some cookie candies to share today with our tea.
ReplyDeleteYay spring! I think everyone is ready this year. Love American Beauty. The Scones look delist, although I stick to almond milk in mine with my allergies. Your setting looks so springy indeed! And your garden is lovely already! Thanks for hosting and linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

Bernideen, thank you for the delightful tea party! Everything is gorgeous. I love scones made with buttermilk, and I used to always keep dried buttermilk on hand for when I didn't have buttermilk. Now I just do the 1 tablespoon of cider vinegar with milk to make 1 cup of "buttermilk" and let it stand for 5 minutes or so to thicken a bit. It works well for those of us who have seen too many quarts of buttermilk go bad! :D Unlike my Southern father, I can't just drink a big glass of the stuff!
ReplyDeleteHow perfect to get to enjoy lemon scones in your sunny yellow room! Great way to say hello to springtime!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cheery spring tea table! I especially like the pretty daffodils. Thank you for hosting and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI will have a different tea post tomorrow, so will try to remember to come back with a link. How exciting to be watching your garden wake up from it's winter rest. I love when that starts happening. I look forward to seeing your garden here throughout the spring and summer, I am sure it will be wonderful.
ReplyDeleteDear Bernideen, oh those scones look so yummy. I have to stay away from them right now, sigh. But I do enjoy looking at your goodies and all your pretty tea time things. I get to see you here, on FB and TP! Love being in touch. Hugs.Linda
ReplyDeleteHi Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteI love Royal Albert's American Beauty and your new cream and sugar are so pretty. It was my mother's dinner set so I have quite a collection and will always treasure it. Your post looks so pretty today. Sorry I was away last week and missed your linky party. One year in Missouri. Happy Anniversary! Blessings, Karen
