RASPBERRY CREAM SCONES for "Tea In The Garden"

Yesterday was a lovely day to spend in the
garden planting my seedlings and also seeds
directly in the ground.
But first I set up a little tea for us to
enjoy one of my Raspberry Scones
I had baked.  Enjoy more than one if you like!

We all seem to be on different spring weather
schedules.  Not that I  even had that many
tulips, but mine are almost done  blooming
and I know many of you have your's just getting started.

This is the one year anniversary for my
Missouri garden so I have been inspecting
"what made it" and what didn't after the winter.

I saw a lovely pair of bright yellow finch out
earlier but after I got my camera - they were
no where to be found!
There was a sweet robin though:

The Raspberry Cream Scones are real easy to make:  First preheat your oven to 425 degrees

Ingredients: 2 1/4 cup flour, 1 Tb baking powder, 1/4 cup granulated sugar.  Mix those together and then cut in 6 Tb cold butter using a scone kneader, then stir in 1 cup heavy cream and lastly 2/3 cup chopped fresh raspberries.

Once you form a nice dough I like to roll mine out on a floured pastry cloth and use a scone cutter.  I sprinkled granulated sugar on top of them after I put them on the baking sheet.  Bake around 10 minutes.

I got 12 little ones and 5 larger using 2 size cutters.

  1. Hi Bernideen...we are indeed on different garden schedules...only about 1/4 of my Tulips are open and the iris are green spears at the moment. Your garden looks lovely! The Scones look delicious, although I will substitute something for the raspberries...not my favorite berry. Have a lovely week and thanks for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

  2. Your scones look lovely and the tea table so inviting! Only the green leaves of the tulips are above ground here. It's been a very cold April so far but that is not so unusual for us. It's supposed to warm up a bit tomorrow and the next day and then back to the cold again. Our springs are so short here but at least the snow has disappeared. Enjoy your week, Bernideen.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  4. Tulips have been up and gone here in Texas, Bernideen. Yours look so pretty in your vase on your tea table. Yes please, anything raspberry is a weakness for me, and I'd love a scone with a cup of tea. I must make these soon, and yes, the sound easy. Thanks so much for hosting and have a happy week out in your garden.

  6. Bernideen, I love your garden. I want to have tea with you in that garden. But you'll have to have two teas for me because I also want to have tea in your basement tearoom! I'm posting this link again - just 13 hours to go till giveaway deadline. And I can come back tomorrow and link to my deviled egg post IF you consider deviled eggs a tea food. Maybe I'll go ahead and do it, and if you think it's too much of a stretch you can delete it, no hurt feelings! :-)

  7. Oh, my, Bernideen- you've done it yet again with the most perfect garden teatime! Your table is so pretty and just looks perfect - esp that first pic - love the view straight-away angle you shot that pic.

Your flowers are amazing and your scones to-die-for yummy looking! Now you have me wanting to bake! Alas, my brother the diabetic is with me today and that would just be too cruel. Maybe tomorrow. (wink wink.)

    Hugs! Yay spring beauty! ♥♥♥

  8. Nummy and your Iris are gorgeous, we have a full month here yet before the Iris bloom, I think. Staring at the vibernum bush and praying for the snowballs it will produce.

Lovely setting---tea in the garden is still a wish here. Sigh, Sandi

  15. Bernideen, it's "official" now - I saw a plate of deviled eggs on an afternoon tea table on Pinterest - so I can add my link today! :-) Your raspberry scones look wonderful. I was going to make raspberry muffins today, but now I might have to make scones instead! Thank you for hosting.

  17. Bernideen, your garden really is lovely! You are ahead of me. My Iris are in bud and no Clematis blooming yet. Still, things are ahead of schedule. My Iris usually don't bloom until the end of May. Raspberries are my favorite fruit and I can't wait to make these. They look simply delicious! I also can't wait until I can have tea in the garden. We woke up to snow this morning. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann
