BRINGING OUT THE VIOLETS for "Friends Sharing Tea"

Have you noticed any
 early signs of spring?

When we lived in Spring, Texas many
years ago,  I loved that when February
came - spring arrived.  It was a very
short and mild winter there.  I  have
learned that each climate that has
some amazing plus - also has an
some minus.  In the Houston area
it was summer heat clear to winter.

I always look forward
 to the violets
of spring!

We have actually had two solid
days of rain and now we have
mud but that's all right because
I know things will green up now.

I love hankies with violets too!

Today a little bunny was sitting in
the rain outside our downstairs
sliding glass door.  I did feel sad
for him.  A squirrel  was very clever
and to my surprise I saw him up
looking in a birdhouse in the rain.
Then, I saw him chew the hole opening
for about 15 minutes - he chewed it
much bigger.  The next time I looked
he was snug inside looking out at
the falling rain.

Today I took this photo
from inside the house.

I hope you are having a nice winter
and did you notice that March 20
is the first official day of spring?

  2. 'Morning Bernideen! What a sweet posting! I too shared my violets this week. Your little creatures are feeling at home from the sounds of things. The little squirrel that ate his way into your birdhouse is certainly making himself at home. They are cute although they ruined one of our bird feeders so we're not overly happy to see them when they come around. Your hankies are lovely; especially love the scalloped one. You have a gorgeous collection of violet china. Thanks for sharing and have a beautiful day.

  6. So many pretty violets! I used to live in Spring too! I actually grew up in Houston, then we moved to England for two years. When we came back we lived in Spring in a subdivision called Northhampton and I had my Senior year at Klein High School. That was in the 70's and Spring was still very rural. You wouldn't believe it now! It has grown so much.

  15. Bernideen, you've inspired me to bring out the violets. I have only two things with violets - my mother's teapot and my honorary grandmother's teacup snack set. Sorry I didn't get a picture of the tea sandwiches, so had to put up a picture of the bigger sandwich.

  18. Dear Bernideen,
its always a wonderful monent, when the violets start blooming. Somethimes still rests of snow a in the area then. How cute and clever was this squirrel to enlarge the entrance of the birdhouse. The birdhouses look so nice, I would prefer to sit in such a tiny house and watch the rain outside. Thank you for this fabulous violet tea time!
    Best greetings, Johanna

  22. What lovely violets - some of my favorites. It is also fun to see items that I also have in my collection, not nearly as many as you - but they are fun anyway. Lovely post.
