GRANDMAW'S LINENS FOR IRISH TEA TIME

Yesterday I was sewing  and had a
great view of the outdoors.
Suddenly, it began to snow so
I went upstairs to the main level
for a cup of Irish Breakfast Tea!

Doesn't hot tea taste wonderful
on a cold day?

Right here in the kitchen I
set up a little table.

I recently made a tea cozy using
some of the linen embroidered
napkins my Grandmaw made
for me almost 50 years ago.
Since there were 12 large napkins
I used the ones that had some
stains and cut out pieces that
missed the stained parts.

This little topper was one of the
table cloths Grandmaw embroidered
and I have a larger one.

I also pulled out some fun
 Irish cookbooks to enjoy.

A local friend,  Karen,  sent
me this Shamrock cup and
saucer recently:

I have shared several recipes over
 the years
of various Irish Scones and one
can be found here.

  1. What a lovely tea setting in front of the window with the dusting of snow on the patio! We haven't had much snow this winter but it sounds like we are in for three Nor'easters in a row the next few days.
Love your tea cozy and the shamrock teacup. How lovely you could take the napkins and make the cozy from them. The topper is pretty too. Your grandmother would be pleased, I'm sure! I think your standing bunny is adorable! Thanks for the party and enjoy your day. Blessings...Sandi

  2. I adore all the linens with the green. That shamrock teacup is wonderful too. I have Elizabeth Knight's, Celtic Tea book and must run and see what fun things I can do for the upcoming wearing of the green.

  10. What wonderful heirloom napkins and tablecloth Bernideen. Green is my favorite color so you know I'm loving this post with all the green! Cute postcards too. How fun to use your teacup from Karen for the occasion. Your metal bunny you got in Springfield looks great on that shelf unit. Fun! Fun! xoxo

  11. A wonderful way to use the less than perfect napkins and so have a perfect accompaniment to the treasured tablecloth. We had a dusting a couple of days ago...and to think the time change is Sunday! Amazing! A lovely place for tea! Thanks so much for hosting and linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea.

  15. Bernideen, such beautiful photos, as always. Love how you've used your grandmother's linens. Even though tea was right there with my scrambled eggs, I neglected to take a picture of the teapot or teacup. So I hesitate to add the link to my post. But I hope everyone will come visit and get in on my Le Creuset Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Nonstick 10-Inch Fry Pan Giveaway (and, if they need to, check out how I think scrambled eggs should be made!).

  18. I'm not a huge fan of tea. But I love old-fashioned tea cups. I just drink juice or water out of them!
