JANE AUSTEN'S IRISH PASSION

If you've seen the movie "Becoming
Jane" then you know a little something
about Jane Austen's relationship
with the Irish fellow Thomas Lefroy
and maybe you are the one who
really knows the answer to the
 question:

With Saturday being St. Patrick's Day
I thought it best to stay on this journey
of Irish tribute and tea time - at least
for this blog posting.

I do love the clothing of this Regency Period of time.  Do you? The Regency styles remind me of the sewing I did in the 70's when we wore those puff capped sleeves gathered at the top and then drawn in and went down tightly to the wrist.   The empire style had a lovely raised waist.  That sure brings back memories!

Yes, this photo from 2010 in my shop
brings back memories of a Jane Austen
Tea Event.  I am retired now and both
of these ladies (Elizabeth and Katrina)
 are now married and
Elizabeth on the left has 2 children.
These young women were delightfully wonderful!

As you can see we have some lovely Irish
Raisin Apple Scones and you can find
this recipe - HERE.  I suggest a little
more sugar - maybe 2/3 cup.

This tea cozy has Jane Austen fabric:

  1. OH Bernideen ...
You just have a magically way of making teatime inspiring...I do love Jane Austen...I can’t confirm the history , but I sure do adore Mr. Darcy especially when Colin Firth is playing the part... Some actors just suit those romantic type of roles... The clothes are fabulous and so feminine...although maybe hot in summertime...but teatime at your house is perfect ...I’d love a "raisin apple scone” to compliment some relaxing tea in your lovely shamrock cup. Your St.Patricks Day tea display is wonderful and I like the Austen touch.... especially the tea cozy ....Thanks for sharing , my Friend...Hugs

  2. What a beautiful tea time you've set up for us, Bernideen. I love both teacups, and I'd certainly love a scone while I'm visiting you.
I have never seen the movie "Becoming Jane", but would love to.
I loved Seeing a glimpse of your shop, and the pretty things, and lovely girls.
Thanks so much for hosting and Happy St. Patrick's Day!

  3. Loved the styles of the 70's and I've always loved puffed sleeves and the empire waisted frocks. I had a powder blue dress that I loved to wear to church. The styles today I find hideous for the most part. Can't wait till they bring back prettier colours and styles. Your tea table is lovely, Bernideen, as always. Thanks for the party and Happy St Patrick's Day!

It’s an Aynsley St. Patrick’s Day, isn’t it? I love the regency folks tea cozy...so cute! Haven’t seen the movie yet...isn’t in our rural area yet, but it’s on my list. Happy St. Patrick’s Day And have a wonderful week. Thanks for hosting and for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea.
