FALL DECORATING

So we saw they have snow up north in

Iowa today.  We have temperatures here

at about 42 degrees so after a long, hot

 summer that feels very cold.

I am sharing some fall decorating at our house.

So as part of our kitchen we have a

hearth room where we put some of our

 more formal antique pieces.

Our home is very casual.  We are retired

and that is reflected in our home.

I am enjoying the fall transferware

pieces mixed in with some fall and

thanksgiving cookbooks.

We used our fireplace

last night and it felt wonderful.

Some were are saying it will be a colder

winter so we shall see if that is correct.

It isn't saying that here!

We are finishing up our last of the out of doors

projects this week and Thursday promises warmer

weather so that will be much appreciated!

  1. Bernideen you home is so welcoming and cozy.
I love to see your collections in each room, and my heart skips a beat when I spot a piece that just speaks to me, which are many :)
We are enjoying a warmer than usual week, in the eighties this week, but I know that won't last for very long, so doing all of our outdoor chores while the weather allows.
I am enjoying my sweet tea cozy, it brings many smiles to my face.
Hope you are keeping well dear friend !
    Hugs,
    ~Jo

  2. You have outdone yourself with beautiful fall decor. The rooms are stunning and I love seeing your collections, a fond memory of your lovely store. My tea cozy is perfect and I'm so happy to have one of your special creations. Looking forward to hot tea as our weather begins to get colder. Thanks so much for sharing your home and decor with us. It's always a delight to read your blogs. Blessings... Tammy H.

  3. You have some lovely collections in your home. Such a lovely light-filled home with all those windows. Love those beautiful chairs in front of the fireplace. One could sit there for a very long time and soak in all that lovely ambience.

  4. I really enjoy seeing the white stand at the window that has so
many fanciful teapots. Your living areas are decorated so beautifully,
I wish I could do something similar. My teapots have to be displayed
above the kitchen cabinets. We are having days of rain here. Just
grateful it is not sleet this time of year. I have marigolds blooming,
and I believe they will last til the weekend when the nights will be
in the 30's every night. Enjoy the warmer air coming your way.

  6. It's amazing how quickly the seasons turn. It is quite brisk up here, and really hasn't warmed up much during the day. We have much needed rain and hopefully tomorrow I will finish the bulbs and get the greenhouse squared away. Always there is a list of things, not completed. Your home is lovely, and certainly speaks of comfort, history and elegance also. So nice to see another post, stay safe, Sandi

  9. What a beautiful home, Bernideen, so warm and inviting. Caitlin and I love fall! We are all decorated for our Halloween Party that we're hosting for a few select friends this weekend (we'll see if that happens since covid cases are rising in Colorado). But once the party is over, we'll put away Halloween decorations and transition back to fall. :) I'll post some pictures of our Halloween decor on my blog at some point this month. We do get a little crazy. ;)

  11. Your home looks beautifully decorated, Bernideen. We had a rain and a drop in temperatures overnight! I've had my second cup of tea this afternoon to warm up.

  13. Bernadeen, you know I sure would love to visit you there and just take in all your collections - there's so much to see and hear about. Wouldn't that be fun? Perhaps one day it will happen.

I had the fireplace going the other day too - but then it warmed up again.

I kinda hope it will be a cold winter only to keep germs away.

Hope you are staying well. Your fall decor is fun and fabulous. Big hugs.

  14. I have just discovered your blog on Prairie Needleworks blog list and feel that I have found another soul mate! Your house is stunning, such a country cottage feel to it - should be in one of those glossy magazines! I adore your teacosies too. I collect embroidered linens and have about 200 antique embroidered teacosies. Sadly I don't have enough teapots to put them on, but they are safely stored and I pull them out to show my craft loving friends from time to time.
