A CHICKEN POT PIE KIND OF A DAY

Today it snowed all day long!  It was lovely and since I was home for some sewing I decided to make Chicken Pot Pie.  Now that's comfort food.

I looked at a number of recipes and settled on this recipe from the A Taste of Home website.  I also made a Spinach Salad which was a nice accompaniment with the pie.

Instead of using the recommended store bought pie crust - I made mine from scratch.  Well actually - I made 2 so I had to double the crisco pie dough recipe.  As I was making the filling I thought "this is a lot of filling" and then I realized this recipe made 2 chicken pot pies so I have one in the freezer too!

GETTING THROUGH THE WINTER WITH PINK TOILE

January is almost over and dealing with the winter blahs.  I have this same problem every year.  Time to "deal with it"!  I decided to make a new tablecloth out of pink toile.  I also set my table with what I call my Jane Austen Tea Set and a vintage Arthur Woods teapot with roses on it.

Our fabric stores don't seem to have much toile but I do see it was available on line.  It can be rather expensive for some reason (?)  I think it looks french!  If you buy fabric 56" wide you can just narrow hem the edge and it takes less than 3 yards.

Yesterday we went on a buying trip for my shop and I found a couple things for myself such as that cute pink doily with the green edge and the little pink and green teapot.

  Last week my sweet customers, Miss Emily, Miss Jessica and their mother Suzanne, gifted me with the primrose.

When we left town, all our snow had melted.  It was a lovely day but later it was suddenly cold and turned snowy as we came home. Now we have a nice blanket of fresh snow today.

TEA IN A LITTLE COTTAGE TEAPOT

The other night as we were going in the house our new neighbors called over and said "are you baking any brownies"?  I guess that is an indication that I have already spoiled them!  This morning I baked some brownies so I'm  guessing they will be happy!

I am sharing two teacups today which means one is for me and one for you!  Pick which one you want for your tea. 

 The first one is an English Royal Albert with pink, burgundy and yellow roses.  The other one is English Taylor and Kent and is hand painted with pink and yellow flowers.  It is also numbered.

Winter time affords us the opportunity to catch up on reading and I have some teatime cookbooks here on the sofa I want to share with you!  Nothing better than sharing recipes.  

Last of all - we have new neighbors - that is BIRD neighbors.  I looked up this morning and hawks are nesting two doors down in our greenbelt.  Can you see the head at the top of the nest?
