Welcome to a little girl's tea in the garden: this is my childhood bride doll "Sweet Sue" which I had restored about 22 years ago.
I am a great fan of Beatrix Potter so today's tea has a theme:
Last year we had already had snow by this time (and the year before that) so we are happily enjoying a longer fall this year.
A while back somewhere on an antiquing journey I found this darling vintage linen set with embroidery
and applique doggies on it and 4 little napkins. See how the napkin just fits right in:
We thought we were going to be getting new windows in our house last week - but guess what? False alarm......they don't come until later this week. That means we have everything piled up away from the windows everywhere. Can you see why I'm happy to be outside today?
The little doll with the green hat below is porcelain and I got her in Toronto, Canada back in the 1980's:
Oh, Bernideen, your little girl's tea is so adorable! I do love your dollies sitting at the table with the Peter Rabbit set. The wee chest is darling too. The linens are so pretty and what a find they were! I am so glad you were able to get your bride doll restored. I have my grandmother's only doll which she left to me and her face is broken. I would dearly love to find a place that could restore it for me. I so enjoyed your tea in the garden today.

ReplyDeleteI remember you having snow early last year but it's nice to still see you in the garden today. A charming tea for little girls and I love the little napkin pockets in the tablecloth.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that you can still enjoy such a darling tea in your garden, Bernideen. Your dolls are so pretty as they sit at your table. I love your vintage linen set...so cute! I had a bride doll, too, but don't know what happened to it. My little sister probably got to it!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThanks for having all of us to tea today.
I just love your child's tea...especially the Beatrix Potter teaset! How cute!. I no longer have my dolls..they went several moves ago, so appreciate seeing yours! Thanks so much for hosting and have a wonderful week!

Everything is simply darling - love the little tea set - one of my favorites - and the setting is absolutely wonderful. It is nice that you are having a little longer Autumn this year. Those tiny linens are so precious. That gives me an idea - I might have to make some for my dolls.
ReplyDeleteHi Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteYour outdoor setting is perfect for the Beatrix Potter tea party! I adore her and Peter Rabbit and the bunch too. Cute linen set, so sweet.
Thanks so much for hosting and have a blessed week,
Gina
What a fun tea-scape you have this week! I love linens and those cute puppies are so adorable! hugs....
ReplyDeleteA perfect table my friend. Love it all. Hugs, Martha
ReplyDeleteHow adorable! Your tea setting is perfect for a Beatrix Potter fan. Thank you for hosting and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteBernideen your tea is so sweet! I love those Peter Rabbit figurines. I saw them first in an antique store when I was in my early twenties and I just walked around the case taking them all in! So adorable! Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet tea for a little girl or grown up! Glad you saved and restored your doll. She's a beauty. I have two of my most loved childhood dolls which I'll always cherish. The linen with the napkin pockets is unique and useful for wee ones. I've never seen one before. Your garden looks like the perfect escape from your window work.
ReplyDeleteOooo! Beatrix Potter teatime in the garden! How grand! And your Sweet Sue is sweet, indeed. I have a few dolls of mine who spent some time at the doll hospital, too, some years ago. But, I am most impressed that you're still able to be in the garden! We woke to 29 degrees today--not quite tea in the garden weather in Southern New Jersey. Everything in your yard is so green and lovely. Glad you had time to fit in another teatime--especially with your Miss Potter collection. Dreamy!

The tea party looks so perfect. Love the little tea set and all of the details. The little girls must be having a good time.
ReplyDeleteWspaniała herbatka dla dziewczynek. Lalka Sue jest prześliczna i te wszystkie porcelanowe skarby na stoliku. Pozdrawiam.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely darling! I love the Beatrix Potter! Such a sweet setting!
ReplyDeleteOh Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteI love it all! A Little Girl's Tea is so darling a tea time today! You are so lucky to be having extended nice weather. Your collectible dolls and little tea sets are very sweet. I don't have many vintage dolls. One of yours resembles one that my sis had when she was little. I must search for mine now. Thank you for sharing such an adorable tea and thank you also for hosting! I also love your new Ellegraves teapot in the post above. I am on the search for teapots and they are becoming rare and costly. Hope your new windows can be installed quickly. Take care, Karen
I love your dolly tea! So sweet with the Beatrix Potter teaset! I really like those cute chairs too! Your garden looks amazing for this time of year!
ReplyDeleteBernideen, I'm a great fan of Beatrix Potter, too! Especially Peter Rabbit. But I don't have a single photograph of my collection. Must remedy that! Love your collection!
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming tea party! I especially enjoyed seeing the childhood doll you had restored and how you honored her great and long service with a delightfully elaborate tea party!
ReplyDeleteHello Bernideen, This is a lovely setting! Your attention to detail is amazing as every little bit just fits so nicely. What an adorable tea.
ReplyDeletehugs,
