After buying a 6 lb pound bag of Gala Apples, it seemed like a great day to bake a Cranberry, Apple and Walnut Pie:
This recipe (found here) has the carton of Aspen Mulling Spices in it but I was thinking for those of you who don't have access to that you could just use 3/4 cup sugar, 3/4 Tb Cinnamon, 3/4 Tb Cloves and 3/4 Tb Nutmeg
Have you been doing some fall baking? I love the way the house smells when there is bread or something wonderful in the oven.
Bernideen, your pie looks fabulous! I would love to join you for a slice of pie with a cup of tea. There is something so charming about a lattice crust pie with its sticky juices bubbling up through the crust! Reminds me of my Granny's baking so many years ago. Every day in the Fall she would have fruit pies sitting on the window sill to cool. Oh, those were the days! I have a lot of her recipes and of course some are not very clear because the book has been so well used. I love your autumnal floral teapot and matching teacup. Thanks for sharing and hosting and have a lovely week.

ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful pie! Makes my mouth water. I have been thinking of the kitchen a lot lately, but that's about as far as I get! Haha! October is a wonderful time to get back to teatime. So cozy!
ReplyDeleteYour pie looks (and I am sure tastes) delicious;
ReplyDeleteand served in a beautiful setting :-)

What a pretty Fall tea, Bernideen, and my, does your pie ever look great! You have such pretty linens, tea service and accessories on your table today. It's still warm enough here that I can have tea in the garden.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting and have a happy week!
Baking does indeed scent the air with wonderful aromas. Your apple pie for Friends Sharing Tea looks delicious! Love your china pieces too. Have a great week! ~ Phyllis
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely time for tea - I think I'll set up a tea tray and have a nice cup of tea and do some reading. Our weather is still warmish - and sunny here in the Pacific Northwest - but they say by the end of the wek we will be getting some much needed rain. Our mountain is more bald than snow covered and we need the snow cover for next year's drinking water. Your dishes are always so wonderful - and the pie looks scrumptious.
ReplyDeleteYour pie looks so yummy. Thanks for the recipe! Love your autumn colored teaware and your Johnson Bros. Old Mill dishes! Thanks for hosting and have a good week!
ReplyDeleteThat pie looks amazing! Thanks for letting me join in for the first time!

Your pie looks and sounds scrumptious, Bernideen, and it's so beautifully made, too. I will have to tell my brother, who once lived in Boulder for many years, that the mountains have had snow. Have a lovely week! Bess
ReplyDeleteWe're definitely experiencing the cooler autumn days in my neck of the woods. I finally broke down and turned the furnace on last weekend! Your pie would be the perfect accompaniment to a pumpkin tea. I'm not much of a baker but have been enjoying my local bakery's fall goodies. Hee! Thank you and hosting and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty pie! I love that chintz teapot and teacup! Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteThat pie looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteI suppose your autumn is shorter being in the mountains, I hope it's beautiful there. Do you have a lot of Aspen trees in your area?
I need to get back to doing a tea time Tuesday post on a regular basis. I do love tea!
Deanna
Mmm ... I have never been good at baking an apple pie, so I think I will try yours! I have had some success with my pumpkin bread, so that's next on the list for baking!
ReplyDeleteThat pie looks simply delicious! And I love the plate you have displayed in the background. I always love to see your beautiful embroidered linens, too. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteHi Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteYour apple pie is so pretty and looks quite tasty! Fall is the perfect time for baking, but I have not done so yet, I think you have inspired me to do so.
Have a great week,
Gina
Hi Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteYour cranberry and apple pie looks fabulous! My mother used to bake the best pies but I am not like you and her. I love all of your transferware and china today! So very perfect for the season. Happy Tea Day Sweet Friend and Thank you for hosting! Karen
I've been in a baking mood and hope to bake each Sunday during the fall. I made banana bread yesterday and the house smelled wonderful because of it. One day I would like to bake a lattice pie. Yours looks wonderful and so fresh. Love seeing the groupings of apples in your kitchen.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day Bernideen. I tried to link you but could not because it kept giving me bot check after bot check. I promised I was not a bot multiple times but it did not believe me. Anyway -now I want pie! Great post.
ReplyDeleteYour pie looks wonderful. I just love apple season. Love also the tea pot in this post. So glad you are having some wet weather, our land just needs it. Wishing it would come to the west coast.
ReplyDeleteYour post is so perfectly lovely for October! I can practically smell those delicious looking apples, Bernideen! You have a very nice collection of pretty "autumnesque" china, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting the fun party! Hugs! ♥
Your apple pie looks delicious and I can imagine the aroma, Bernideen. Thanks for hosting...,Christine
