There is something wonderful about an old house!
area north of Downtown Colorado Springs!
Just look at the windows around this front door below:
A friend lives in this lovely light peach home:
Are you like me in that my taste has changed over the years? I was once in love with heavy, dark and massive Victorian but now I suddenly find myself charmed by cottage style. Perhaps, this is because it better suits my station in life. I do love to see the Victorian stairways. Many of the homes have butler pantries. We went in one and the lady showed me a buzzer under the dining room table where the lady of the house stepped on it with her foot to call for the servants. Ha!
I like the cottage style of this one below -
I would call this a very LARGE cottage though!
I really like this one below:
These stately old houses are all very old.
The windows below are amazing:
Love this cottage style:

Those homes are just grand! I'm glad I stopped by today, XOXO
ReplyDeleteOh, what gorgeous homes, Bernideen! I love the older homes that have lots of character. They are charming and dream-worthy. Although I do not care for heavy dark interiors either and much more prefer the light and airiness of the cottage style, one has to appreciate the workmanship and architecture of the historic homes. I really enjoyed your post. Have a splendid day, my friend.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
Dear Bernideen, I just love old houses, too and some of the houses that you are showing are totally gorgeous. I would like to move right in!
ReplyDeleteWe have lived in a cottage in the Bay Area that was 80 - 100 years old and I really enjoyed it, even though I have to admit it was a little less convenient than living in our modern house now, but because of their character and charm I would move to an older any time, again!
Wishing you a lovely week!

Thank you so much for sharing all those beautiful homes...I really enjoyed looking at them. We used to visit Colorado yearly for a company meeting, but since H retired we haven't been back. We need to come back for a visit...hugs...
ReplyDeleteThose homes are gorgeous. It reminds me of Petaluma, California or the old houses I've seen in Massachusetts. Amazing. They are a lot of work to keep up, and it looks like these ones are loved. xoxo Su

ReplyDeleteHow fun Bernideen! I do love old houses, and that town looks like a perfect place to visit! We lived in an 1885 Victorian in California for 10 years a while back...I loved it! Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful week!

These houses are beautiful and so grand! Oh how I dream to live in one of them. This part of the world is an absolute charm.. Where there are old houses come history with it. If only those walls can talk.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting this fab party Bernideen.
Warm hugs,
Aida
Thank you for the fun tour of these beautiful houses, Bernideen. I'm also a fan of Victorian homes, but a cottage-style house is more suitable for my lifestyle (and wallet)! Thank you for hosting and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful homes and beautifully maintained. Your friend's home looks as if it might have large, square rooms both upstairs and down. I'm with you, simple is more appealing to me these days.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful homes Bernideen! I love the darker colonial blue one. I love the interiors of these homes too with all of the great mouldings and wood floors! Thanks for hosting and for sharing with Home Sweet Home!

ReplyDeleteBernideen, those are really beautiful houses. One of my favorite things to do is drive around looking at old houses and hope that they have their drapes open so I can get a peek inside. Thank you for hosting this week and Happy Tuesday to you..Judy
