BIRDBATH REDO

I am taking a few moments to share something I put together
as a "break" from all the unpacking.  By the way, my
unpacking is all done today - not that pictures
 and
 mirrors are up yet though.

Some of you recall I had about 3 of these birdbaths in my Colorado yards so I left 2 and brought this one.  They tend to rust where the water is poured into the bowl.  I had my husband drill holes in the bowl part for drainage, added small rocks, then potting soil
and I made a planter to go by the porch entrance which
I will be sharing later.....not put together yet either.

I hope your week is going well.  It is cold today but
we had two really warm days so I got a
good start on redoing the home entrance garden area.

There is so much to change and learn when you move.
We have new phones which is a real struggle for us and my
husband just accidentally called me as I am in the
next room!  Oh dear!

  1. Bernideen, your birdbath planter is gorgeous! I've been wondering what to do with the old birdbath that was left here when the previous owners moved. I Love your idea!

  2. That's funny that your hubby accidentally called you within the house. My own story is of getting a new mini iPad yesterday at the Apple store and I told the guy at the setting up desk I couldn't get it to work. He asked me if I turned the power button on! lol A lady of my age range sat down beside me and did the very same thing with hers!
I like the birdbath arrangement you assembled and as plants become too big or die off you can add something new. Old bird baths make fabulous fairy gardens too. Glad your packing is coming to an end but I know with spring arriving you'll want to be doing some gardening. Are there established beds at the house now?
Have a nice weekend with hopefully some rest and cups of tea.

  6. This is such an adorable birdbath/planter! I hope you don't mind if I copy the idea. I am looking for ways to add more flowers around my potting shed and this will be perfect. Thanks for the inspiration and have a great weekend!!

  8. Your bird bath planter turned out beautifully, Bernideen! Isn't it funny how in the midst of things, we still need to have some beauty surrounding us to make us feel at home? I can't wait to see more of your new home.

  10. What a cute, cute, cute idea!!! I love it-what perfect 'fillers' you have found there. I have one that I filled with crushed shells (from our beach) and I stuck small solar lights in there. It looks amazing at night.
Happy April to you- xo Diana

  11. Bernideen,
Love this! What to know why" I have an identical bird bath but I let mine rust and it has a terra cotta look to it. I have a planter in mine with hens and chicks planted.
