This morning we were up early as my husband thought
he had an appointment. When we realized that
the appointment wasn't today but another day,
we decided to go goof off. We have a brochure that
tells all about 5 antique malls in the St. Louis area,
so we decided to visit the St. Charles Antique Mall
and then drive through the historic district.
The sidewalks and streets are brick and
most of the buildings are brick in St. Charles.
The city dates to 1769 when it founded by
Louis Blanchette, a French Canadian
Fur Trader. Many French Canadians
came to settle the city. Today I loved
seeing all the corn husks that were decorating
the town doorways and lamp posts.
I always love the special plant details
in historic areas.
I wish I could tell you that I went to this tea room below but we
were dressed very casually for the day. Another day for sure!
I really appreciate seeing the towns around your state. Can't wait to take a detour to St Charles real soon.
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to go there to visit! This town looks like such a lovely place! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh what a great trip Bernideen! I love St. Charles, haven't been to the historic district for 15 years or so, but have been to the antique mall several times since then. I like that one. Did you find anything? The tearoom in the district looks fantastic in that historic home and all! You, Janice and I should go soon!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of a real Missouri treasure!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who exhibited at a St. Charles fair for several years, and loved it there. I've had it on my wish list for a long time.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to have a day to just 'discover'! Hope you make it back to the tea room soon!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful day to just relax and take in the beautiful sights. The photos are great.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week.
Mary
Yippee for a great goof off day! Lovely sights to see...
ReplyDeleteHow fun to enjoy some free time in such a pretty town. You've certainly moved to a delightful location, Bernideen, with new places to explore.
ReplyDeleteOh, last time we were in St.Louis the rivers were so high, that we didn't make it to St.Charles. I will have to put it on my 'go to' list for sure. Love this post, Sandi
